Any word on Bryant's condition? Seems to me this would be a
good time to call up Baez. Baez can help give all the other
rookies a rest while they climb that rookie wall and spell
Castro a bit too.
Or maybe they expect Coghlan to be able to do that with
Schwarber playing left and Montero back?

Bryant is getting rechecked at some point today. Baez might not
be up for a few weeks at the earliest, so I would guess
Olt/Vilaneuva if Bryant goes on the 7 day concussion list.

I hope (at worst) it will be sufficient to rest Bryant for a
game or two. They need his bat in the lineup as much as
possible.

On today's Olney podcast, Olney said he'd bet the family farm
that Sonny Gray is traded this off-season and "watch the Cubs"
as club who might acquire him---Derek Johnson/Vandy connection,
past Theo/Beane trades, etc.
Gray is controlled for another FOUR seasons after 2015, so Cubs
interest would seem clear, along with Carrasco, Ross, etc. type
guys. Just think trade along these lines more likely than big
ticket FA pitcher already at age 30 for monster bucks.
Hope for huge Baez showing final 1/3 of season as trade bait.
Yeah, big -time potential but, at 30% K rate at Iowa, best case
scenario is 180 Ks per season guy in majors. Guessing Theo/Hoyer
wary of adding another huge-K guy to current
Cubs-K-leading-NL-by-wide-margin lineup. Also, Baez main value
is as SS and Russell is our guy there going forward.

Before his injury Baez was under 25%/PA at Iowa. Since he came
back it has spiked back up, but that is likely more of a timing
issue from being off for 6 weeks. I can't even imagine the
price on Gray. The better question might be who would be less
expensive to acquire in trade him or Sale.

I wonder if the Cubs might be in a position to trade Hammel in
the offseason. He probably would at least being back one or two
interesting prospects that could help enhance a package for a
guy like Gray. Plus, it would free up a little money.
