probably going to be a reality for the next $154 million of his
contract, huh? I wonder if they'll try to get him to throw over
there anyway, and get past it? Or, if that would risk messing
up his pitching brain too, so he'd not be able to pitch either?

The only thing is, other pitchers with the yips couldn't throw
home either. It may be a thing where Rizzo has to get more
padding or something, because Lester may have to FIRE over there
instead of a softer toss. Even on a comebacker last night, he
flipped underhand to Rizzo. If Lester can pitch without
thinking about it, and he used to do pickoffs, maybe he can just
work on the footwork and throw harder.
Otherwise, the answer to your question is "yes."

I think it was mostly just Winters being bad at his job.
Framing probably helped some, but he wasn't missing calls high
or low. If it was all framing, Ross and Molina would've gotten
a few of those calls too.

Unlike basketball and football, national announcers for baseball
seem to rely on a notebook of previous games and things about
the ballpark. Where Big Mac hit a home run, the Bartman
section, the game Castro fell asleep with two out, the great
throw X made six years ago, Molina has a cannon arm, or here's
Larry Walker tossing the caught fly ball to a kid in the
stands...but there are only two out, etc. And that's why
they're so terrible.
Can you imagine every time the Jets played that there would be a
replay of the butt tackle? Or when the Vikings played, a replay
of Marshall running the wrong way? Won't happen. But in
baseball, it seems that happens way too much. I'm sure fans of
every team are weary of it.

One difference is that there is much more "dead time" for
announcers in baseball. Between game action and instant
replays, football announcers talk about the game 90 percent of
the time. In baseball, it they take up about 10 percent of the
time.
Very few announcers can make that "dead time" interesting.

I had heard about Lester's issues before last night.
Apparently its more than just pitching.
I though it was hitting, fielding, etc.
Like he dont want to do ANYTHING but pitch.
The announcers even said last night that the last time he tried
to pick somebody off it rattled him to the point that the next
batter up went yard.
Every team in baseball knew about this and still wanted him so
he must work around it well.
Maybe that's why he's so dependant on David Ross?

Unfortunately, many of them get carried away and don't even
announce the 10%.

My biggest problem with the announcers was the amount of time
they spent talking about themselves. It's Opening Day, for
crying out loud. They couldn't do a little bit of research to
find something interesting to say about the players they're
supposedly covering? Just a horrible broadcast team.

Or us! They could have talked about the BBF and what
knowledgeable fans we are. Bastards.

Yeah, when you play in the obscurity of Boston and the AL East,
these things can be easily hidden.
