rentals. You might want to start looking.

I believe in AA and I think Lastella was brought here for a
reason so it wouldnt surprise me one bit if Javy spends the
majority of the season in Des Moines.
I wouldnt be stunned if Russell even passes him and im not
anywhere near as high on him as most here.
Its just hard to get behind a kid who cant do anything but hit
and now cant even do that.

If I were Javy I'd hope Bryant ends up in LF.
That's about the only way I can see him getting significant
major league time this year.

It would be extremely surprising to me if Baez doesn't start the
season at Iowa. And if I were a betting man, I would bet that
he would be there long enough to extend his free agency another
year. And if I had to trade someone, I would much prefer
trading Baez rather than Russell, whom I think will have a
better career than Baez.
Regardless, I hope he doesn't get traded. He has the talent to
be an amazing player, even though the odds of reaching his
ceiling is not very high.

For those that want to trade Baez, what do you think his trade
value is? My thinking is it is some where around Mike Olt at
this point when the Cubs traded for him. I'd much rather let
him bust with the Cubs. The nice thing is the Cubs don't need
him to reach his ceiling to be a good team.

Baez was a lock to start the season at Iowa this year the day
the season ended in 2014. As to his playing time in the majors
this year it is quite unlikely to be in any way related to
either how Bryant does in the majors or where Bryant plays or
when his FA would begin. It is likely to be almost entirely
based on whether he establishes in AAA that his adjustments are
making a positive difference and that his pitch recognition has
significantly improved, and that he establishes enough of a
track record that a strong Iowa performance does not appear to
simply be a hot streak. I doubt there is any chance any
performance he could produce at Iowa will get him back up to
Wrigley in less than two months... and that is if everything
imaginabe goes right.

Is it possible that Russell leap frogs him and gets called up
with Bryant. I'm assuming he has a great camp and they want to
delay his FA clock as well. I could see that happening if he
tears up AAA like I expect him to.
