Hendricks perfect through 4. Neither Hendricks nor Arrieta have
done it for even a full year, so I wonder if they'll be able to
sustain. Last night and today don't discourage.

Hendricks with 5 innings of no run, no hit, no BB ball. 3 K's.

Bryant hit his second home run, and Villenueva struck out for
the second out. The A's then walked of the field and into the
dugout, and the umpire never noticed that there were only two
outs. Martinez had to go out to the umpire and remind him that
there were only 2 outs. The umpire then called the A's back
onto the field to continue the inning.
Both of Bryant's home runs were described as mammoth.

Ryan Dempster blocking that trade to Atlanta looks more and more
like one of the better blessings in disguise that we've had.

A lot of luck involved in that trade. Hendricks was not the
first guy we got in that trade as I recall. We got someone else
that proved to be injured, and Hendricks was his replacement,
some time later. Or am I thinking of someone else?
Can't find any trace of it anywhere, so I must be thinking of
       another trade.

You're thinking of a different one, Dave. That was for Geovany
Soto. We got a pitcher, he was injured, then they gave us a
different pitcher instead. Who then proceeded to get injured
       anyway! :)
The dempster trade was for Villanueva and Hendricks. At the
time, I think a lot of people seemed to think Villanueva was the
       more valuable prospect.

Soto, Dempster, all those foreign names sound alike.

Rivero finally pitches in a box-score game. Lets the
no-hit-no-walk get away, and gets pulled after 1/3 of an inning
(two hits, and a walk.) Britton closes with a 1-hit 9th. Baez
added a hit today, although it appears he then got himself
picked off or something. Almora 0-3, so after his fast start
he's gone hitless for several games now. La Stella got another
       hit, a double this time.

Szczur with another HR today. He's got 3 times as many this
spring training as he had all last season for Iowa.
A good reminder that early spring training might not mean very
       much.
Alcantara got an infield hit and then later on he got another
hit, I think out of the infield. Hopefully he's ready to heat
       up some.
