Fangraphs crowdsourced the amount of dead money in some of the
worst contracts in baseball. Of the 10 players listed, only
Buehrle had less dead money tied up than Jackson. Kind of
interesting, and I think this shows why it will be hard to come
up with any bad contract deal that makes sense this offseason.

Hoyer on Castro to the Mets rumors from Mooney.
“I don’t want to say there’s nothing there,” Hoyer said, “but I
think this is the 10th time those rumors have resurfaced. I
think at some point it’s almost better to ignore until if and
when something actually happened.
“Because every time they make a signing, or every time we do
something, it doesn’t reengage some kind of market.”

Unless a GM isn't doing his job, he's talking to a lot of
teams/GM's (every GM, you'd think...), and a lot of agents about
a lot of FA. Hundreds of conversations, a couple of deals.

I don't see the Cubs dealing Castro until Russell is ready.
That might not be until the 2017 season, but since Castro is
under club control through 2020, he should have lots of trade
value after the 2016 season.

130K => .879 OPS OBP = .327
150K => .856 OPS OBP = .318
170K => .833 OPS OBP = .308
190K => .810 OPS OBP = .298
210K => .786 OPS OBP = .289
230K => .763 OPS OBP = .279

Number of SS with over 300 AB last year that beat the 230 K
projection OPS projection in order. Tulo, Ramirez, Peralta, and
Castro.

I don't think I could bring myself to trade Baez for anything
other than a "blown away" return right now. There's just too
much attention being paid to his start, and the one thing we
knew about his start going into it was that it was going to be
bad.
