Curt lost one hand and both feet in an accident, but he can
still count to five and one half.

skills and ability, but also because he's obviously bright and

outstanding person and future team leader...the kind of guy who
seems to fit our FO's paradigm perfectly.

Those may be reasons you think they MIGHT view Russell as more
valuable, but you mention no reasons to believe that they in
fact DO view him as more valuable, and the fact that Theo has
commented about big-time HR power, the kind Baez clearly has, is
a much less common quality today than a few years ago, makes me
believe they may well quite reasonably see Baez as having a
much higher ceiling than Russell. And I suspect the front
office would consider 45 HR power from a good fielding middle
infielder as also being a perfect fit for the FO paradigm.

A lot of speculation that the Cubs will sign Jonny Gomes this
year. How is he better than what they have in Ruggiano?

I can throw a baseball just as hard today as I did when I was
       22.
It just doesn't go near as fast.

       Jes:
       * most baseball "experts" (and prospect publications) consider
Russell a better prospect than Baez
       * Russell gets bat on ball with FAR greater regularity than
Baez, will likely hit for a higher average and has MUCH better
       plate discipline than Baez
       * Russell is considered better defensively than Baez (of course,
many observers consider him likely better at SS than Castro,
       too)
       * Russell also has plus power
Don't think we will hear our FO compare Baez and Russell or
others of our players or prospects etc. for obvious reasons, but
knowing how CRITICAL "controlling the strike zone" is to our
FO's organizational philosophy, it's very hard to imagine that,
behind closed doors, our FO values Baez over Russell. Almost
       certainly not.

All of those are reasons it seems rather likely that (you)
value... Addison Russell quite a bit more than Baez.
None of those are to any degree whatsoever indications that the
       front office shares your opinion.
And while Russell may have plus power, his power is generally
not regarded to be in the same category as what Baez has.

If I were a betting man, I would bet the House that Theo and the
Boys value Russell over Baez because of the reason's Ben spelled
out which we all know, Russell makes more contact at the plate
and is better defensively, plus this Front office acquired
Russell and unfortunately that seems to be a big deal to this
FO, when push comes to shove.

Again, Ben spelled out reasons HE prefers Russell over Baez, and
your comments indicate you share that preference, and the
reasons for the preference. He set out nothing coming from the
front office indicating THEY share it.
This is not a question as to which prospect if valued more
highly, nor over which one is "better," nor what it means to be
a "better" prospect (such as the entire ceiling/floor argument
and the likelihood of reaching either of those, as opposed to
the likelihood of ending up somewhere in between and where).
