Sullivan and Kaplan are saying Cubs sources are telling them
it's not done yet. Jesse Rogers too. Probably just a cover so
the team can deny breaking a story 2 1/2 hours before game 7 of
the World Series.

Damage control--everyone but Heyman is now tweeting that there
is no deal yet according to Maddon's agent.
Still, I think it's probably just a technicality. Everyone is
holding off until tomorrow after the game. Which seems
silly...does anyone really believe that the 7th game of the
World Series is going to be upstaged by a non-playoff team
introducing their new manager?

Gotta love this tweet from the "Purple Shirt Guy" that saw Theo
and took all kinds of grief from everyone but was eventually
vindicated.

Kapman chimes in on Maddon:
David Kaplan ‏@thekapman 3m3 minutes ago
A great MLB source says he expects deal done but other teams
did make a run at Maddon. Cubs and Maddon's agent still
negotiating.

Nero confirmed to Levine that he and the Cubs are in
negotiations. Does anyone seriously believe that the Cubs would
fail to sign Maddon if they are in negotiations?
Bruce Levine ‏@MLBBruceLevine 10m10 minutes ago
Agent Alan Nero just told me that there is no deal with the Cubs
at this time . He confirmed they are negotiations !

Here's Heyman:
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Joe Maddon is about to become the new
manager of the Cubs, sources tell CBSSports.com.
Maddon and the Cubs are on the verge of agreeing to a mega deal,
according to people familiar with the situation.
The Cubs deny that a deal is done, but people familiar with the
dealings say that it is certain to be completed in coming days,
and that Maddon would indeed be the next Cubs manager.
The contract, once finalized, is expected to make Maddon one of
the highest-paid managers in baseball and quite likely the
best-paid in the National League. Mike Scioscia's Angels deal
pays him $5 million annually, so he sets the standard.
Cubs president Theo Epstein has long been an admirer of Maddon,
according to people close to the team. The Cubs intend to make a
big splash in free agency, and this represents a big start.
Current Cubs manager Rick Renteria was told the team was
exploring the possibility of hiring Maddon, who became a free
agent after recently opting out of his Rays deal.

Heyman on MLB Network saying again that it's just a matter of
finishing a deal, but that he will be the Cubs manager.
