Thanks, Ron. Yes, those are always interesting.
I always think it's difficult for me to do the swing analyses
from one or two videos. My guess is that some of the weight
transfer angles and bat angles might look quite different on
other pitches, especially the non-HR-resultant pitches. I'm
sure the Cubs have videos on every pitch. Can a good swing
analyst nicely diagnose swing characteristics that are good or
bad only with a volume of swings to analyze, or is even one or
two detailed videos enough to show whether basic swing
mechanics, balance, and weight transfer is good?
We know that a lot of hitters do a lot of guessing. Maybe
always, maybe sometimes; and perhaps with widely varying
frequency. I wonder how different the swing breakdown looks
when a guy is trying to wait and read a pitch, versus guessing
ahead of time? I'd guess the leg-kick and loading might be more
       exaggerated when guess-hitting.

       Joe Maddon huh.
At least we'll have something to talk about around here.

That would be fantastic but I will believe it when I see it.

Maddon has won "Manager of the year" twice. He must be great.
But there are those who have won it three times, so they must be
50 percent better. I wonder if Dusty Baker or Lou Piniella are
       available.

Bruce Miles chimes in on Maddon.

I'm watching the Baseball Tonight pregame show on ESPN.com.
Both Stark and Olney feel pretty strongly that Maddon will end
up with the Cubs. In fact, they both said they'd be surprised
if he didn't end up with the Cubs.

Cubs plan to talk to Maddon, and want to keep Renteria around in
some capacity if they do hire him.

Is Dan Bernstein someone who is likely to have special sources
within the Cubs? Don't recall any indication of that in the
       past.
