I can't either, Craig, but it was written by Rosenthal. Nuff
       said.

Sullivan says Peavy is interested in playing for the Cubs. He's
near the bottom of my list of mid-rotation options that I'd
       want.

He'd be a fine second arm to add.

Peavy would likely cost $15M/yr for 3 years, turns 34 on the end
of May, has been injured 5 of the last 7 years, and had a FIP
this year of 4.11 to go along with an ERA+ of 100 for his second
       straight year.
Unless he wants to give the Cubs a very serious discount from
what he likely could get elsewhere, and accepts a heavily
incentive-based contract, I really hope the Cubs pass. At this
point, I wouldn't consider him a mid-rotation option, but if the
Cubs are serious about contending in 2015, he should only be
considered a back of the rotation option.

Peavy is losing velocity and is 33. His best days are behind
       him.

Has Peavy been spotted singing "Go Cubs Go" in any hotel bars
       lately?

Kaplan is reporting that the Cubs are in "advanced" talks to buy
some of the rooftops. Summary from Bleacher Nation.

Interesting column by John Arguello on Javier Baez that attempts
to analyze his approach and mechanics, including possible
adjustments. The slow mo videos are especially interesting to
me - particularly the one with an analysis by "Doc Scholl."

Maddon is evidently not going to the Dodgers:
