Was VERY impressed with Bellamy tonight. That kid is going to be
good. He made a great catch along the sideline and then rocketed
up the sideline gaining another 8 or so yards. Would be nice if
they could find a place for the kid because I don't think he
lasts on the practice squad.

Agreed, Bellamy just might have played his way on to the roster
as the 6th wideout. And Santonio Holmes definitely nailed a
spot.
I'm kind of lukewarm on Fales. Granted he didn't have a very
good line and played a lot of the game with 3rd level receivers
but I'm not sure I'd save a spot on the 53 man roster.
But what bothered me was that hardly anyone else showed much. I
have been watching Ryan Groy for a few games and he blew chunks
tonight. I don't know if he's even worth a PS spot. Same goes
for #72 Leno at LT.
Boggs is probably the best guy on the O-line. And the old guy
#73 at RT was pretty solid.
But they didn't play Ola tonight so he showed them enough
filling in for Mills. And Britten played some RG so I'd guess
he's going to make the team.
As for TE....#87 isn't going to make the team.

Really disappointed with my bubble guys on defense. #94
Cornelius Washington may be a work out wonder but I think he's
headed for the PS...if he's lucky.
The guy that looked to be the most active DE was the guy on the
bottom of the totem pole...#91 Bass. If they keep 10 d-lineman
he's #10. Trevor Scott was held out so he makes the team and I
like the play of Austen Lane.
Linebacking was atrocious. #53 Franklin plays special teams and
might make the team by default. The steal #96 Christian Jones
didn't impress me either. #60 DD Latimore might be the best LB
of the bunch.
Hurst was one of the few DBs to make any plays. He has an
outside chance to make the team. #39 and #25 CJ Wilson might
make the PS.
The punter looked good. And I'm not sure that Chris Wiliams or
Senorise Perry made the team. Neither can block a lick.

My bet is, everyone will be calling for Tuckers head by the end
of the season. We'll have another wasted year of a good
QB/offense.. The only part of the D that looked decent through
all of preseason is the the line, everything behind the line
looks lost..
Yes, I understand it's preseason and doesn't mean a thing. Let
the season begin and we shall see..

Chif, I'm tending to agree with you. I noticed one play in
particular. It was near the goal, maybe twenty yards out. Bears
on D, Browns driving for a score. I'm watching this play develop
and my instinct is this is going to be a pass in the flat and
that someone on D needs to see this and react and jump it and
intercept. Nope. The play developed just like I thought it
would. The D falls back into a zone scheme, the reciever gets
underneath and picks up a easy first down. They go on to score.
We'll see but I don't see anything that makes me think this D is
going to be improved from last year much.....

Ditto. I didn't see anything defensively that instilled
confidence in me that the team defense is much improved. The
back 9 is just horrible.

I thought Christian Jones showed enough promise to keep. Usually
teams have a lot of LB and CB types on the back end of the
roster to play ST. I think if you try to stash Jones on the PS
he gets snarfed up quickly. Just too much potential. I thought
Corny Washington looked decent.

I wish there was a list of all the guys that are eligible for
the PS. Must look for that today.
And if you can see the Browns carving up the D, wait until you
see what Aaron Rodgers does to it. Just saying.

Hold on a minute. That D you saw out there was made up of a lot
of 3rd stringers. None of the DTs will be on the team. The DEs
that played were not among the top 4. Maybe the 6th best LBer
got some action. And maybe one CB and one safety that played
make the team.
Last night was all about individual performances. I thought
this was an excellent opportunity for the Bears backups to
against first string talent. I thought as a team they did
pretty well...early on.
Offensively, we basically started our 4th best QB if you include
Palmer who was 3rd string.

I isolated on Washington most of the game. He got a few double
teams, but he frequently would get fooled on bootlegs and was
constantly glued to his blocker. (I do admit Washington
appeared to be getting held a bunch of times).
Bass seemed much more fluid.
Christian Jones could make this team...but it will be primarily
on potential. It will be between him and Jerry Franklin who is
OK - nothing special but does play a lot of special teams.
I think players 51 thru 53 on this roster may be coming from
other teams.
