Not making excuses for them, but after so many years, I imagine
it's tough for Peanut and Briggs and other grizzled vets to get
       completely motivated for preseason games...

We have long said that a defensive backs best friend is a good
pash rush. I would think the lack of Jared Allen in this game
       was a factor.

Watched the first half last night. Bears front 4 did pretty
well, especially rushing the passer. Houston and Willie Young
were very active. I think the biggest factor in that game was
Russell Wilson. He made numerous plays that only he could make.
I wouldn't be surprised seeing the Bears swap out the entire
front 4 for the 2nd team with Scott, Lane, Ferguson and Sutton.
And Young will get some snaps on 3rd down when it looks like
they will be moving Houston inside for Paea.
McClellan just always seems to be a step late to the play.
Briggs will be OK - sure didn't need that late hit that extended
a Seattle drive. Bostic played a lot of MLB but I still think
DJ Williams will continue to get most of the snaps when their
       not in pass defense mode.
And I liked Conte out there. He made a couple plays but he did
whiff on that screen pass. As for McCray the current starting
FS - totally invisible. It looks like Mundy suffered a face
laceration so he should be good to go. He's the best safety.

       From the Trib:
What happened: With the Bears behind 14-0 and craving a big
play, Cutler was locked in on his favorite receiver from the
snap, firing a pass to Marshall that was a bit wide. The Pro
Bowl receiver dived to make the grab. But officials ruled the
       ball hit the ground first.
Zoom out review: Trestman didn’t address this play specifically
Monday. But he was most certainly alluding to it when he
mentioned Cutler’s failure to find the proper check-down reads
in Seattle. On this particular play, running back Matt Forte
leaked out of the backfield and found himself standing all alone
in the middle of the field with no defender within seven yards.
Instead, Cutler tried to squeeze a throw into Marshall, who had
       three Seahawks defenders near him.
This is exactly what drives me nuts about Cutler...trying to
force a ball into coverage when the checkdown receiver is wide
open. Shoot Cutler could have run for that first down.
Hopefully in a real game he makes the better decision.

Also, I hope Chris Mills is good to go. I like Ola but he got
beat way too many times Friday night. A few incomplete passes
were the result of pressure on the right side. I thought
Bushrod and Long had solid games. Slauson was so-so and Garza
       not so good.

Guys who will mostly not even make our team are beating the
       Browns first and second stringers.

I think we keep Santonio Holmes. Nice work as a receiver and a
       returner tonight.

Yeah Peke, Holmes trying hard to make the cut, looking pretty
       good...
