Thanks, Cactus. That sounds like a exactly what I want. Only,
I'm not sure I've seen such a thing. Looks supremely
convenient. OK, hey, now I went and checked and I did see one.
I'll have to watch for this once there gets to be more action.
I'll have to get used to the details on that and how/when they
show up. But thanks a lot, this looks like it will be really
good and perhaps better than WC.

Here I am testing for quote within a quote. I'm quoting the
previous post, which had a quote in it.
Interesting. So the new comment that I added does get quoted,
but the quote that I was responding to does not. That's
interesting, and makes a lot of sense. Might be nice to have a
choice. I recall on the nsbb board, things would get so
stretched out because quotes within quotes within quotes would
continuously get carried along, obnoxious. But sometimes the
discussion makes sense if the previous quote does get carried
along.
I wonder if there's an option or something? Having the default
be to only quote the newest stuff makes sense, but the choice to
carry along the old quotes might be nice too...

"Show child boards on every page inside boards, not just the
first."
cactus or dave, do you know what this means or does? I have it
unchecked in my settings. What is this and what would change if
I checked it? I assume this doesn't have to do with my
quotes-within-quotes question, or does it?

I also have that option unchecked. I have only two other
choices unchecked: Show board descriptions within boards and
Show most recent posts at the top

OK, cool, thanks. I'll copy that, then. This looks like it
will be very convenient to work with. Just for the record, what
did you set for your number of posts per page? 10? Or did you
make it something big? I imagine that if the "new message"
thing is working, then it wouldn't be bad to have a large
number. But if the new message isn't working smoothly, it might
be easier to quick scroll through a smaller number of
many-message pages.

If you want to catch up on a topic you've fallen behind on
quickly without paging through only a few posts at a time, go to
to the last post you've read, then hit the "Print" button. All
on one page in a very easy-to-read format.

Dave, is it possible to make new topics? I bought MLB At Bat
and, after getting plenty of good advice from people on our
board, want to share what I've learned. Can you make a topic
for it (or maybe more generally for "watching baseball on the
internet")?

Thanks, that's a pretty cool function.

Wow, that 'print' thing is great -- it really should be called
"show everything in a nice, neat, black-and-white, no-frills
format" because that's what it does. Even if you have no
intention of printing anything and just want to see the posts
with no graphics, it's very useful.

This may or may not help anybody, but I thought I'd share with
everyone my settings under "Profile"/"Account Settings"/"Look
and Layout", which I think makes this board function a lot
better and a lot more like Worldcrossing for me.
Below is what I have checked and unchecked there.
UNCHECKED Show board descriptions inside boards.
UNCHECKED Show child boards on every page inside boards, not
just the first.
CHECKED Use sidebar menus instead of dropdown menus when
possible.
UNCHECKED Don't show users' avatars.
UNCHECKED Don't show users' signatures.
CHECKED Leave words uncensored.
CHECKED Return to topics after posting by default.
CHECKED Don't warn on new replies made while posting.
CHECKED Hide messages posted by members on my ignore list.
UNCHECKED Show most recent posts at the top.
CHECKED Show WYSIWYG editor on post page by default.
ON BY DEFAULT Use quick reply on topic display

JR - We have a couple differences but they are in the topics
where it is just a matter of personal preference such as showing
signatures.
One other option worth mentioning is
Use quick reply on topic display
ON will definitely work best while posting in Today's Game. The
rest of the time, OFF has advantages such as providing quicker
access to WYSIWYG.
