I guess the operative phrase "they're supposed to be the best
fans in baseball", could mean to Franklin that they(Card fans)
know he's going through a rough patch ,that all players go
through that kind of period throughout a season, that he's been
the stud in previous seasons, that they should be mindful of his
record and back off on the booing...uh, not going to happen
Franklin. You play like feces, you get booed. Man up, do better
       and they'll cheer you again.

It's all a part of money ruining sports. The players make
millions, Joe Sixpack has to spend more and more money to
subsidize the owners' and players' greed to get a seat in the
park, and becomes more and more cynical. When the overpaid
millionaire ballplayer doesn't perform up to expectations, Joe
lets loose the boos. Talk sports radio and TV, and instant
internet gurus, all add to the flames.
Ryan, it goes with the territory. Soriano understands. Take
your money and keep your mouth shut.

The Brewers have extended Braun through the end of the
       decade...from Rotoworld:
Brewers signed OF Ryan Braun to a five-year, $105 million
contract extension with a mutual option for 2021.
Well, this certainly came out of nowhere. Braun was already
under contract through 2015, so he is now guaranteed $145.5
million through 2020. He will earn $19 million per season from
       2016-18, $18 million in 2019 and $16 million in 2010 while the
2021 mutual option is worth up to $20 million with a $4 million
buyout. The contract includes a $10 million signing bonus. It's
officially the largest financial commitment to a player in
franchise history. Braun and Troy Tulowitzki are now the only
MLB players locked up through 2020. Prince Fielder was probably
already a longshot to stay with the Brewers anyway, but it's now
virtually certain that he'll be playing elsewhere next season.

Pretty good deal by the Brewers to have Braun locked up at an
average of $14.5 million for the next decade, by the way. Never
more than $19 million in a season, and he'll be 37 when the
       contract ends.

Looks like Commissioner Bud wants to continue to water down the
       postseason.

I don't really understand what an extra round of playoffs would
add. It sounds like it's most likely to be a 1 game playoff
between two teams...does that really add any revenue at all?
And even worse...there is no way that is going to increase
interest in the playoffs. In many years, you're going to end up
with the second best team in the league (usually one of the top
draws in baseball, such as the loser of the Yankees/Red Sox)
against the fifth best team in the league. So essentially,
you're putting the biggest draws in the game into a one game
coin flip situation, which is likely to frustrate many more
       people than it makes happy.
The only thing wrong with the current playoff setup is the 5
game first round. It should be 7 games.

The Cubs are paying a lot of money to a pitcher now scheduled to
       throw BP for the Yankees.

I wonder how Prince Fielder feels about the Braun signing. The
       Brewskis are saying, "Sayonara, Prince."
