And, unless the guys taking are one of the rare hitters able to
put up great numbers with pitches on the corners, isn't that
generally what a hitter should do (unless there are already two
strikes and fewer than two balls)?

Wright would be a good target for the Cubs. I don't know that
they'd have the pieces to send the Mets to get him, and a deal
probably wouldn't work at the deadline unless Ramirez is gone.
But he's by far the best guy who will potentially be out there
as a Ramirez replacement. And if his power recovered away from
Citi Field, we'd have a #3 hitter.

Do the Mets have a guy in the minors they want to bring up or
something? Why would they want to trade Wright? Complete
rebuild cuz they can't compete with Philly in the short term and
want to be poised to compete for the division when they begin
their descent in a couple of years? I'd think Wright would
still be productive then.
