Yea, you sure wouldn't want someone who has a decent
relationship with Pujols as GM for the Cubs.
Now, the reality is that I would not, because as tempting as
Pujols would be, I don't want to see the Cubs make that kind of
move and tie up that kind of budget for as long as Pujols will
get when the Cubs still need a full rebuild. But most here
would LOVE to get Pujols.

At $30 million a year for 7 years? I doubt most would feel that
way.
Irrelevant, in any case. Unless Ricketts is magically replaced
with an owner willing to spend like a large market owner, there
won't be any big splashes in the FA market.

If Hendry isn't getting it done then keeping him because he
might have a connection to Pujols would be a mistake. My memory
is failing me but didn't we sign somebodya few years back
(Neifi?) because he gave us the inside track on another FA? I
don't recall that turning out so well.

It won't happen anyway and I'm not nuts for him either, but I'd
probably rather sign Fielder than Pujols. He'll still be
overpriced, but a relative bargain. Of course, there's the
danger he'll be 400 pounds before he's 32.

I can tell you right now if the Cubs sign Albert Pujols for $30
million a year for only seven years, I will be thrilled.
Never gonna happen, though.
He'll remain a Cardinal.
