       Phil Rogers:
Since the start of the 2001 season, the Rockies have had 16
homegrown players make their big-league debuts and then grow
into established players in Colorado (defined loosely by having
three seasons on active rosters). That may not sound that
       special, but it is.
The Twins have had 12, the Angels 11, the Athletics 10 and the
Cubs — believe it or not — nine. The average is seven, and if
not for Aaron Rowand, the White Sox wouldn't have any. That's
how unconventionally Ken Williams has operated in his 11 seasons
       as a GM.

       Oakland Athletics Wednesday transaction:
Placed C Kurt Suzuki on the paternity leave list. Recalled C
       Josh Donaldson from Sacramento (PCL).
I'd heard about MLB's new concussion list but this has to be the
first time for the paternity leave list.

No, it isn't. They were talking about some other player that
recently was allowed the first paternity leave. Smoak? Think
that was bereavement. There was one, though.

Found it: Colby Lewis was the first, and now Ian Desmond has
       joined Suzuki.
Of course, all three had to name their kid "Bud," which in the
case of Lewis' little girl might cause later problems.

Actually, Curt, it wouldn't really be that unusual of a name for
a girl. Kristy McNichol played "Buddy" on the 70s TV drama
       "Family."
Granted, that was a nickname but it still counts.

We know Suzuki is not on what the NFL calls the "Physically
       Unable To Perform" list.

Two day leave. Must be an ugly baby.
