Haha, that's what you get for saying nice things about me. :)
I hope you're right about all of the changes not undermining the
charm. And the jumbotron is something I've grown to accept and
probably will be a fine addition. It just seems like the
outfield is going to be a big collection of advertising signs
and other junk like that. Hopefully it'll seem minimal after a
while watching it for a while, though (it took me a very long
time to accept the Under Armor X's in the outfield but they
don't really bother me that much anymore).
I guess there's a good part of me in my mind that thinks if
they're going to be doing all of this to Wrigley, that perhaps
the actual best thing to do is to build a genuine cash cow 21st
century stadium.
By the way, craig also makes a really good point about this
being cheaper and a lot more efficient than just building a
whole new park.

It isn't clear to me why that would be classified as a hit. I
doubt that the Cubs had any intentions of signing him, and they
got a heck of a good return for him in the trade.

You have to hit "Stop" (or the "X" if you're using Chrome) while
the page is loading and before it gets to the pay wall.

Ive seen the reports that we're looking into adding another
starting pitcher since we lost out on Tanaka.
Truthfully I dont see the need in it though.
We all know we're gonna suck and we already have
Samardzija,Wood,Jackson,Arrietta,Villanueva,Grimm,and probably
Kyle Hendricks for 5 spots so what's the need in spending
whatever it'll cost to sign Maholm or whoever else we can find
off the scrap heap?

I've gone the opposite direction on the idea of signing a
starting pitcher. I wanted them to add a Maholm/Capuano/Hammel
type, but I've changed my mind and want to go up the market.
I've actually come around to the idea of trying to sign Jimenez
today. Garza's contract was so reasonable that I think a
Jimenez deal could turn out to be a bargain.
I mean, I definitely wouldn't get into a bidding war for him or
anything. But the Cubs are going to have to add a couple
pitchers through free agency if they want to have any shot in
2015. So I think Jimenez makes sense now if the draft pick
compensation issue combined with the lateness of the offseason
artificially deflates his price. I'd offer him something in the
3/$33-$36 range (basically what Lohse got last year) and
negotiate from there.

I wouldn't sign anyone that causes us to lose a second round
draft pick.
