Did anyone stand out from either team in the Sugar Bowl last
night? I wasn't able to catch it.
Based on the score I'm gonna assume the vaunted Bama defense
took the night off.

Bama defenders have been kind of a mixed bag in the NFL. Guys
like Mark Barron and the Hightower guy in NE have done pretty
well... but a lot of others including a couple of very highly
rated CBs and guys like Terence Cody and that LB Upshaw... not
so much.
I know that every major football factory produces some stars and
some busts but when a D gets as much of a rep as Bama it's easy
to assume anyone who comes out of that system is gonna star in
the NFL and that's a risky assumption to make. Just something
to think about especially for those of us with HaHa Clinton Dix
on the radar as a possible Bears choice.

I've seen both Clinton-Dix and CJ Mosley as possible Bears
targets. Either one would be fine with me.
Alabama's OL was exposed last night. OU's pass rush was the
difference in the game.

Bama's OLs are usually pretty good. Maybe we should be looking
at OU D-Linemen?

Didn't see the whole game (was watching the Blackhawks) but
there was one Oklahoma DE that was reall quick around the
corner. Saw him beat the LG twice for sacks. Anouncers commented
on his speed but said he was small (a red flag).

I heard that AJ McCarron declined an invite to the Senior Bowl.
Big mistake, IMO. I don't know what it is but I just don't see
an NFL QB in that guy. Put him on a team without all the
supporting talent he had at Bama and I think he will be
extraordinarily average.

I would not take Dix, as he's likely to go first round. I'd
rather have Bailey or Buchanan in round 2.
Mosley...what do we need another LB for? We actually have pretty
good depth there, unless Williams and Anderson are both leaving.
I'd like to see Williams back, at the least.
From Emery:
"I will just tell you we’re going to be a younger defense. The
draft will be focused in that area. ... Defensively, it was not
about, is it D-line, linebacker, safety, it’s about finding the
best playmakers, the guys that can make a dynamic difference to
our defense."
Best available defensive player at #14. I can live with that.

The other side of that coin is that he is a known quantity and
playing in the Senior bowl with recievers that he is unfamiliar
with and are unfamiliar with him could equal a bad performance
that could hurt him. I view the Senior Bowl as a place for guys
that are not as well known to get some attention.

I'd have a hard time with a LB at 14, I have to admit.
And this year's class feels kind of weak at CB so spending our
1st round pick there might be a little tougher sell with me too.
