We have the best draft position out of all the 8-8 teams. That's
more of a break than we usually get at least.
Most of the early mock drafts I had reviewed had us drafting
around 17 to 19 so it's safe to say we underperformed
expectations. 9 wins was the floor for this team according to
most "experts". But if Emery can put together a boffo draft and
sign two or three impact FAs I think we can at least get our D
to the middle of the pack... assuming of course better luck in
the health department and upgrades to the defensive coaching
staff. Whether that translates to more than about 9 or 10 wins
against a brutal 2014 schedule, however, remains to be seen.

I wouldn't put much stock into evalating next years schedule.
I'm sure last year those teams with Atlanta and Houston on their
schedule were calling it brutal as well. You can never tell.

Keep an eye on Ole Miss safety Cody Prewitt in today's Music
City Bowl...
He hasn't declared yet, and still may not, but if he does, he's
one to target.

We have Carolina, San Fran and New England all on the road.
One of those three teams may come down somewhat to earth next
year, but I think it's pretty safe to assume at least two of
those 3 games will be a huge challenge.

If the O can keep on getting better, and our D can get from
tissue paper to average/middle of the pack....we can probably
hand with most of the better teams. With the worst D, we just
cant EVER stop anyone....like 3 4th downs yesterday.

We've just been ridiculous trying to get quality safety help.
The ONE guy that made any difference (Brownie) ends up getting
hurt and shortens his career. Just figures with us.....we
desperately need some quality back there, but the DL has to come
first. Has to. If they get pressure on the QB, that will help
our production in the backfield, so it's more important to get
the best DL we can. But it all won't matter if Tucker is back.
He's left such a incredibly sour taste in the mouth that he has
to be gone. Worst Bears D ever? Seriously?!? Yea, FIRE him! NOW!
I want a head on a stick, today!!!!!!! Someone must pay for the
last two fricking weeks. Two chances, two flops....pathetic!

A big question for the draft is what they think of Bostic.
Apparently he was benched yesterday.
I would thinks will need DL and MLB very early.

If Bostic winds up being a bust then that would be a 1st
(McClellin), a 2nd (Bostic) and a 3rd (Hardin) all gone to waste
in the span of Emery's first two drafts... and he would have to
start seriously being questioned as to his ability to evaluate
defensive talent.
That being said, I think there is still hope for Bostic and
Greene as well. Defense is a team effort... our DL was owned
at the point of attack all year and we all know how bad our
safety play was... so when you are a rookie LB and you're
getting no help in front of you or behind, it's going to be very
tough road.
But if it turns out Bostic is just a fast guy with no instincts,
bad fundamentals and dumb as a box of rocks -- i.e., a LB
version of McClellin or Hardin -- there may not be that much any
coach can do with him.

I think Bostic will be ok, once he gets some decent coaching.
The thing I still shake my head about is the DEs losing contain
OVER AND OVER. How many runs went right around Peppers or Shea?
That is the basic job of the DE, not get blocked inside and
leave the edge WIDE open. If Tucker doesnt know that, we need
to get someone who does.

On that 4th down throw that lost us the game, friggen John Kuhn
shut down Peppers. A 240-lb UDFA FB stoning a megamillion dollar
DE on the biggest play of the season. If that doesn't tell you
how much Pep has lost, nothing will.
