My personal opinion about our D this last year is that our LBs
were more a problem of coaching vs. talent, whereas on the DL it
       was definitely about talent.
So that drives me towards saying let's prioritize talent on the
DL in this draft and trust our new LB coach (whoever that is) to
get a lot more out of Bostic and Greene than we got last year.
If there's a great development prospect at LB in the 4th or 5th
round then go for it, but I just don't see Mosley being a value
with our #1 pick -- unless he's a Luke Kuechly level talent,
which he's not. Plus Bama players tend not to live up to their
rep once they get out Saban's system so that has me a little
       nervous about Mosley too.
I like how the Seahawks do it... stack the hell out of your DL
and D-Backfield, and fill in the LBs with JAGs (although I will
admit Bobby Wagner is pretty good).

And I really don't want to rankle fans here but like Garfield
says "A cats gotta do what a cats gotta do" so I gotta say I
don't want to see some Angie-patch of this DLine. We need to do
what Emery did for the OLine last draft. It was a rebuild, not a
re-patch. We need to start at the top of the draft and get the
best we can and hope for the best. If you have good scouts and
good talent evaluation you stand a good chance. But you have to
       have a total plan.

With regard to some of the D-Linemen frequently being discussed,
here's how I handicap their chances of leaving or staying.
       Wootton - 70/30 staying
       Ratliff - 60/40 staying
Collins - 50/50 (too close to call)
       Peppers - 60/40 leaving
       Paea - 60/40 leaving
       Melton - 70/30 leaving

And then there is McClellin who should be a rush LB, not a DE

I keep seeing whispers of McClellin in competition for the SLB
spot in normal 4-3 and possibly rushing at DE in the nickel.

Emery and Co. seem to be taking their time replacing the DL and
LB coaches they dumped. Did they not have any candidates lined
up before they dropped the axe?
With college all star games coming up I would think they'd want
to get those guys in house sooner than later.

Knighton, yep that's him! Man I would die to get that guy for
       our line!

Reports from the Senior Bowl say Hageman weighed in at 6'6 318
and looked in great shape. Also that he is really performing
well on the field against some of the top interior OLinemen in
the country. Good for him... but maybe not for the Bears.

Was listening to a radio show on satellite radio and they were
talking about some kid from Tennessee that was 6'8 that looked
good. Missed his name but they said he looked great against the
run...not much of a pass rusher at Tennessee but said he would
       be a perfect 2 down lineman in a 4-3.

That would be Daniel McCullers. 6'8 and around 345 with arms
longer than most OTs. A gigantic guy but my questions with him
would be conditioning and playing with leverage. He might
actually be TOO big to be a 3-4 NT so you would really want to
have a plan for him before you invested the pick. He might be a
nice flyer to take in the 3rd or 4th but don't know if he lasts
that long. Kinda reminds me of Big John Henderson who played for
the Jags back in the day. He's bigger though.
