Here's an article about some lower tier guys that may be on
       Emery's radar:

Very glad to see that at least one of them may be a widebody
type of DT... from the same school as Jordan Mills, curiously
       enough.

At 351 he ought to be able to collapse the pocket a bit. I liked
the BR guy , the DE from Missouri. If Hageman or Nix aren't
there that guy would be a stud to get

Here we go again. This takes into consideration we'll be
addressing the safety problem thru free agency.
       1) Tim Jernigan (DT) No one is gonna convince me he's not the
best all around DT in this draft.
       2) Kyle Fuller (CB)
       3) DaQuan Jones (DT) Teamed with Jernigan no one runs up the
middle. We need to address youth on the DL.
       4) Bryan Stork (C)
       5) Taylor Hart (DE) Here's a DE with true DE size. I hate
tweeners. 6'5" / 290 lbs. Has a good motor and instincts.
       6) Chris Borland / Max Bullough (MLB) Whichever is available?
6b) Cameron Fleming / Seantrel Henderson (OT) Two huge RTs.
Depth on the line. Still not sold on Mills as a tackle?

The Jernigan pick may come down to what kind of scheme Tucker
installs. If he wants to get big at DT and/ or go to a 3-4 then
he may not be a fit. OTOH in terms of a prototype Tampa 2 3
Technique, they don't come much better than Jernigan and he
would likely be our plug and play replacement for Melton and
hopefully in a pairing with Ratliff or another widebody to make
up for Jernigans lack of mass. Because Jernigan is scheme
specific there are only a few teams likely to really covet him
so he could be one of those guys who either goes pretty early or
falls quite a ways if those teams go other directions with their
       1st round picks.
I like the idea of a big RT at the bottom of the draft but keep
in mind we already have one on our practice squad. Rogers
Gaines I think is his name.

I'm also curious to see if we draft a C this year. Supposedly
the coaches were quite impressed with Taylor Boggs. .. or at
least comfortable enough with him that they kept him on the
active roster this year. If we really did find Garza's successor
as an UDFA that would be a major scouting score and would free
up another draft pick for the D.

East West Shrine game is on the NFL channel at 4 ET today. The
big DT from Louisiana Tech will pay for the west.

We need two places to fill at least at the beginning ...
the Dennard guy from Michigan St.
A DT ... some guy thats always there for us .
Jerrigen ? We dont know what FA looks like.

We really can't rely to heavily on free agency to fix our
problems. One,it is costly especially after signing
       Cutler,Slauson and Jennings(all signings I'm in favor of),but,I
see very few difference makers in this year's FA crop. If we
were to land one of the top safeties previously mentioned I'd
consider that a success and head into the draft.
We most likely have to keep Peppers for another year due to the
salary cap hit. He counts $18 million this year, but,if he is
released my understanding is he would count $12 million because
of the way the contract was structured. It's still a $6 million
savings, but,it doesn't make it a slam dunk either way.
Either way with this new regime I'm looking for this team to
get a lot younger in the coming year.

I am pretty sure if we release Peppers he ONLY costs us $8 mill
       against the cap this year.

And if they time the cutting of Peppers they can spread that cap
hit over 2 years, not all at once
