I can't believe that someone was so upset at the pick that they
speculated that Long may have been addicted to crack.... ??? :-[

In fairness... after the lack of impact we got from the
McClellin pick I don't think a healthy skepticism about the Long
pick was completely unwarranted. Emery is .500 now on 1st round
picks so hopefully this year breaks things towards the positive.

My speculation was based on the fact he went to rehab for
smoking "something". What that something was, was never
mentioned. ;) Glad the way things turned out.

Draft is a crapshoot. If it was an exact science then we would
know the minute a pick is selected, whether it was great or not.
Do you think the Jags would trade us Blackmon for Jeffrey right
now? Lol Crapshoot
That is why I don't get too high on a pick or too down on the
pick when it is made. What do I know? What do you know?
Experts? They miss as much as we do...

We'll never know if he was drafted earlier than necessary or
not.
But he looks like a solid pick and we finally have a leader.

If I recall, the Cowboys were blasted for drafting Andy
Fredericks at center. And he made the all rookie team also...

DT first round. Need a fatbody.
Safety ... after 50'000 were drafted during the Angelo/Lovie
era ...
in rounds 5-7 ,
we actually need one in the second pick.
Round three ? I dunno. Whats on your mind ?
Remember how much we wanted WEBB to make it on OL ?
7th round pick.
Where is he now ?

As long as he has big-time talent and you can pair him with a

If we don't make a huge push to land either Byrd or TJ Ward in
FA I'm gonna wonder what Emery is thinking.
Curious thing about Byrd is that his dad, Gill, was on the Bears
coaching staff for many years. So depending on what his dad may
have told him about Philips. the McCaskeys, etc. he may have
already put the Bears at the top (or bottom) of his destination
list. IMO it would have been weird for a player to be coached by
his own dad so I think the fact Gill isn't there anymore (he's
in Tampa with Lovie) actually increases his viability from
Emery's point of vie.
