I really like Jeff Hoffman's mechanics and stuff. A bit
concerned about the K rate.

I don't know if he will make it to the Cubs, but NC State SS Tre
Turner was timed at home to first on a bunt at 3.4 seconds as a
RH hitter. From what I've seen Billy Hamilton is home to first
at 4 seconds. Turner should be able to stick at SS and has a
better bat than Hamilton. If he is around as much as I want a
pitcher that would be really hard to pass up.

Is that an accurate time?
Has anyone heard of anyone else with a time that good?
At that speed on a bunt, if the guy can put the bat on the ball
at all the rest of the time he would be a nightmare for
infielders to defend.

Turner should more than be able to stick at SS, from what I've
read. Supposedly plays elite defense. Great character guy, too.
Fits the McHoyerStein model (top notch athleticism, high floor,
strong character and work ethic) pretty well. I'd love for the
Cubs to take him at 4. Given the relative risk of pitchers
verses hitters, and a collegiate hitter who augments the package
with world class speed and top tier defense, I could see an
argument for Turner 1st overall.

I was also wondering just how likely it would be that he had any
chance of making it to the 4th pick.
How is the guy's bat overall? And does he have any feel for
stealing? Does he use his speed well in that department?

Law just ranked Turner #15 overall, which is an outlier
evaluation, but probably reflects that there is a minority view
around baseball that currently has Turner out of the top 5 for
some. Obviously, a lot will depend on his offensive showing next
season but you have to hit to utilize speed. If he's real deal,
would love to pair him with Almora at top of lineup. All this
way premature of course but fun.

As a freshman he was 57/61, which would have ranked him 133 in
SB totals for college teams. As a sophomore he was 30/36, but a
high ankle sprain limited him all year. He has more pop than
Campana/Hamilton, but speed is his best attribute. He also had
another time to first at 4 seconds, only thing there was he
slowed down before the hitting the bag.

Turner might be the best prospect left at #4, but I have some
reservations about drafting a right-handed hitting middle
infielder when we already have Baez, Castro, Alcantara, Barney,
Amaya, Penalver and others who can play there. I'd be much
happier with the best remaining pitching prospect on the board,
even if he's a high school pitcher.

Always take the BPA if it is a pitcher or position player. I'd
love for the Cubs to draft a pitcher with #1/2 upside, but
Turner's speed would be really hard to ignore.
