I didn't see anything on that play to make it offsetting. The
"retaliation" was little more than yelling. That happens on
EVERY play. That was the bad call...not replaying the down.

How about when Roidrage sacked Kaepernick, then immediately
jumped to his feet and started barking right in his face? How
was that not a penalty?

Does someone know that Matthews actually uses an illegal drug?
Why don't they stop him?

Because the players union will not allow the league to test for
HGH even though it has been agreed upon. They want base line
tests and are draggin their feet.
Once it goes into effect Matthews will shrink up and suck. I
guarantee it.
The dude is juicing like crazy and it is obvious.

Then, why don't more players use this magic elixir?
Which reliable source has implicated Matthews in something
wrong?

I like our chances against the Vikings but I think it might be a
closer game than we would like (at least into the 3rd quarter).
The complete lack of pass rush and terrible 3rd down defense we
saw against the Bengals really has to be a concern going into
this game against a Vikings OL that is at least as good as the
Bengals. And of course the shoddy tackling we saw last Sunday
simply won't get it done against Adrian Peterson.
The Vikings WR corps is also much improved. Greg Jennings has
the book on our D from all his years with Green Bay. Jerome
Simpson has a lot of talent and can wreck a D when he is on his
game. And their rookie, Cordarelle Patterson, is a faster
Alshon Jeffery who was badly underused in their loss to the
Lions. If the coaches figure out some ways to get him more
involved he could be a handful for our secondary. Then on top
of that is their stud TE Rudolph and we already showed last week
that big talented TEs (which he is) can take what they want
against our D. Rudolph is 6'6 260 and virtually unstoppable in
the red zone so if our D lets them get that far down the field
we could be asking for it.
When we have the ball, look out for Harrison Smith, who is
straight-up stud at S and I believe, currently the best player
on their D. He took a pick 6 back against us the last time we
played them and he has a real nose for the football plus he will
lay a hit.
On the plus side for our chances, Ponder of course is a definite
liability. If we can make him uncomfortable in the pocket, he
will fold and if the Lions can pick him off 3 times I don't see
why we can't. And, the Lions with Reggie Bush gave us the book
on how to use Forte as a dual threat so I look for us to feed
him early and often and have reasonably good success doing so.
One other thing... the guy the Vikings drafted to replace Kluwe
as their punter had an awful game in Detroit. He's left footed
and kicks an awkward ball so I'm little concerned about Hester's
ability to make the catches but if he can, he could bust a nice
return or two.
Bears win 27-19. Peterson will abuse us early for a TD but then
our D will pull things together and hold them to FGs the rest of
the way. Our offense will look shaky again in the first half
but pull away in the 2nd half and finish strong. I am also
feeling a TD from either the Bears D or ST in this one.

One thing that's really encouraging... at this point and as far
as I know, we should be going into the Vikings game with a
pretty clean bill of health.
The biggest health story on Sunday was Tillman but his deal was
dehydration caused (or compounded by) some sort of stomach
ailment. He was throwing up and getting IVs on the sidelines
which makes his 2 INTs all the more remarkable. Otherwise, I
don't recall seeing any other Bears players come off the field
injured which is somewhat incredible given the heat/humidity and
the physical nature of the team we played.
That could all change of course when the official injury report
comes out but as of now it appears we are more or less at full
strength for the 2nd straight week. Tillman, presumably, will
be fully recovered and then it's just a matter of Melton and
Peppers continuing to rebuild their conditioning which I suspect
had a lot to do with their lack of impact last week.

On Cutler's WTF interception someone mentioned that Michael
Johnson grabbed his shoulder on the throw. The announcers
didn't mention it at all.
The Trib has some pictures of the game and you can see Johnson
has got a hand on Cutler - it doesn't take much to affect a
throw.
