Samardzija in for the 4th inning. It looks like Garza may be
going out to the pen to throw some more.

Garza is throwing in the pen, so no injury or anything.
Samardzija is throwing his normal batting practice, giving up a
smash double to Maybin to lead off the inning.

Hi, guys. I hadn't known about this either. How's it working,
br?
On the Kelly Johnson thing:
1. I wonder if it wasn't quite so simple and true? You know,
those were the big-league names, but Hendry was supposed to
include Lee or Carpetner or something?
2. If not, I wonder if it was about money? Johnson's making $6
million this year. Hard to see where Hendry would have fit that
in. That's more than he spent combined on Pena and Wood this
year...

Samardzija Ks the side after the leadoff double. Shocking.

It is working well for PBP. I just have to get used to not
using html...I've had to edit posts 3 or 4 times to remove the
html.
On Kelly Johnson possibly being about the cost...hypothetically,
if the Cubs had gotten him, they probably could have fit the
cost in by being more aggressive trading Fukudome. Johnson
would've fit into the LH leadoff/good OBP position Fukudome is
currently in.

I'm sure money was involved in the Arizona non-trade but
baseball-wise it was a bad non-move.
I wonder if the Cubs could do something involving the
Diamondbacks this Spring with Blake DeWitt, James Russel and
Jeff Samardzija and maybe some hookers.

Samardzija has great stuff when he can get it over the plate. I
can see why the Cubs went after him.
Too bad he can't get it over the plate that often.
