I’d go a silver over a gold metallic with orange personally.
But you could probably get away with either. Black would also
work as a contrast colour. See what you can find that fits
perhaps.

I think silver would look nice. I've never owned silver metallic
shoes so that would be a nice change for me. I thought about
black but I was worried it would look to Halloweeny with the
orange. :-\

For shoes, I'd go with something like this
HTML https://www.zappos.com/p/soft-style-pleats-be-with-you-starfish-kid/product/8919669/color/734710
or a slingback like this
HTML https://www.zappos.com/p/trotters-dea-nude/product/7290814/color/521
Thank you for those suggestions. I like those slingbacks (I can
wear them to the office as well). I'll have to buy some new
makeup and a nice necklace. I'm not very good at dressing up but
I'll do my best and no one will be looking at me anyway. ;D
Thank you everyone for your help!!
Does the dress have any embellishments at all? I’m just thinking
a metallic is probably a better neutral for an orange dress than
a nude, and if it’s a high neck like the dress you linked a big
jewelled collar necklace or some statement earrings would look
excellent.
The dress doesn't have any embellishments. It's plain but it's a
bright color. I would call it a bold orange color but not neon
or blazing. Just bright and warm. I feel that isn't a very good
description but it's the best I can do! I think gold metallics
would be a better neutral than a nude especially as I am darker
than most nude hues. I have a pair of metallic gold low heeled
sandals that would look good but they are kind of old and I
haven't bought shoes in a few years so I am open to something
new. I liked the slingbacks because they still feel summery. I
wanted close toe shoes because I have ugly toenails and I prefer
those for work but I'm open to open toe shoes.
It's sooo hard to find shoes when you have wide feet. There
aren't as many options. I try to buy them in stores so I can try
them on because I hate buying shoes online only to send them
back. I am jealous of women who have regular width feet, lol.
I would stick with warm metallic hues for the shoes with an
orange dress. I would definitely go with gold jewelry. Keep
warm with warm. What about maybe more of a bronze color for the
shoes?
Don't wear black shoes, that would look like Halloween and
getting into costumey territory.

I know what you mean. I think you could go any metallic really -
I was thinking bronze or gold, but it really depends on the
orange. Have you tried ASOS? They have loads of wide fit shoes
in varying heel heights - it’s where I go to get shoes for my
hobbit feet that are wider than they are long.

If you have wide feet, Zappos is definitely your friend.

Hobbit feet! That is great. That is what I have as well.
Thank you for suggesting ASOS, I don't think I have heard of
them. I am not very familiar with shoes. :D
Thank you everyone for your advice! I am more of an, um, casual
dresser so I appreciate all the help. I will look for shoes this
weekend and fingers crossed I will find the right pair!

I feel like the auto-association of orange and black to be
Halloweeny must be an American thing... I don't think it would
look costumey at all!

Oh, that is interesting, it didn't occur to me it might be an
American thing. I do associate orange and black with Halloween,
it's the first thing I think of. It doesn't help that Halloween
decorations are coming out earlier and earlier so I feel like I
think about Halloween a lot more than I'd like to :D

As another person with wide feet, in addition to Zappos, there's
6pm.com, which is the budget version of Zappos and has the same
search-by-size/width options.
