Ooh, my grandma had something similar [more like a tall beaker
than a choice of jugs], I had it whilst I lived at Mum & Dad's
house for making Horlicks, Ovaltine, cocoa.
I loved it!
I hope he manages to get a refund of the charges for you.

Well, that is a great gift.
I think you need to tell him that he either needs to declare the
value of the item as under $60CAN so there is no tax or to make
sure to mark it as an antique. I would also suggest that he
start filling out the paperwork online for UPS instead of
relying on telling them how to fill out the paperwork.

Yeah, it was marked as an antique mixer, but it wasn't tax,
though. It was brokerage fees, and that goes to UPS, not the
government. But I will suggest to him to fill the paperwork on
line if he can, I'll have him look it up and see what it says.

Is he a dealer of some type? Was he wanting to use his
"corporate" UPS account for shipping?

No to both, it was on his personal account. He just loves old
stuff! He has a great eye for things - I wish I could show you
pictures of his home. There's a few things there I would swipe
when he wasn't looking... LOL!

LOL! I would have to hunt up the pictures on his facebook, and
he has so many it would take forever. But there's a set of old
luggage - round ones, they're really cool, and he has a
casserole dish exactly like one I got from my mom when she died,
but his is a different colour. No, I wouldn't swipe them,
because I bet if I asked real nice, he'd just give them to me!
but I won't do that, I have enough stuff.
