VorFemme, that is the making of one of those dark comedies! So
sorry for you! Especially the teeth! Hard to eat and my tongue
will not leave the tooth alone. Hope you can get in quickly to
get it fixed!
When our stuff backed up, it was toilet (not clean) into
bathtub. We ended up getting all new sewer line down to the
street. And, while our front yard was totally torn up, DH
decided to have them do the water line also. I spent a few days
using other people's bathrooms! But when it was done, it was
done! No more issues. (Knock on wood!) I hope that whatever is
the issue, it can be fixed rapidly and for not too much money.
Modified because "ear" does not mean "eat."

I was more or less staring at the water on the floor and
thinking of the scene from "Meet The Family" when the male lead
"forgets" about the basement guest room toilet being tricky and
sets up the septic tank to overflow - when his fiancée's
sister's wedding is the next day, in the back yard...
A couple of the other scenes reminded me of various "comedies"
over the last fifty or so years - where a tooth ache or other
problem is set up for laughs instead of the very real pain that
it is...but one that most people knew well enough to wince in
sympathy as they were laughing at the shenanigans on the stage
or screen.

I am making a tortilla warmer for the microwave for each family
on my Christmas list and a fabric corner bookmark for every
person on my list. I used my Accuquilt Go! cutter and have all
the squares cut out for the bookmarks. I have the fabric and the
batting for the warmers. I will be able to knock them off as
soon as I have time and good health at the same time.

I'm knitting scarves - at least it's got me knitting again, and
because it doesn't matter too much about width/length [within
reason], I don't have to knit swatches! [Which stupid
brain-blip is what has kept me from starting knitting again for
months. :-[ ]
I have 'cunning' plan* that the scarf will act as my swatch when
finished, so that I can do a matching (or other) hat!
* At least I hope it is...
I'm working my way up to mittens.

Chez Miriam, this year my ornaments will be mittens! I will
think of you working up to mittens as I'm working on getting my
mittens sewn and stuffed!

I finished one gift project today. I'm not sure that I like it
as I've done it, so I'm going to table it and think on it before
doing the next one. Sigh.
It is a bag, where there is an "X," I have used bias tape and
where the straight lines are, I turned it inside out and sewed.
So the top is a little bigger than the bottom. I may have to buy
bias tape and use it all the way around the front and do the
same on the back and then sew the pieces together. Still trying
to decide.

What is it a bag for, gmatoy?
I've seen that shape for spectacles/sunglasses, and an opera
purse, but in both of those cases the XXs were a metal clasp
frame.
Can you post a photo to give a better idea? Or is that a step
too far?
I'm only asking because my mind is veering towards 'oh, that
looks a bit awkward', and I don't want to say that without
seeing it in reality. I'm thinking the more-work way might look
more attractive. :'(
That sounds really critical; I'm sorry. :'(

Can not do pictures, or I would. You are right, it does look
awkward. I've ripped it out already. I saw the idea on the
internet, but have not been able to find it again. It takes two
potholders, puts them together and uses the loops (that are on
the potholders) to clip a cord for the handle. Because the
potholders have a place to slide your hand, it makes perfect
pockets to hold stuff. I am trying to make them for my two book
loving friends, the center would hold a paperback and then the
pockets would hold keys, wallet, etc.
Here are the problems:
1. Now potholders are made with heavy stuff to deflect the
heat, so I had to take them apart to remove that. Then I had to
sew them back up.
2. With that stuff removed, I had to put another fabric in that
place, so the batting wouldn't get caught on things.
3. My work horse sewing machine thinks it is too much for it.
I'm going to try once more and then either I finish up the other
two or I toss them out. The potholders were 2 for $1.00, so that
isn't a big loss. It is admitting defeat and coming up with
another gift that grates! Still, I don't want to invest time
that I could be using elsewhere.

Well, I finished them and they are perfect for gifting some
little girls! Not for giving to an adult.
In other news, I've started making fabric corner bookmarks.
Crafty Staci posted a tutorial on making them and so I've got
over a hundred cut out and the interfacing ironed on and have
started sewing them. Color me happy. This project is making the
grade. My very good friend saw the one I had made for her
husband and was admiring it. When I told her I was glad that she
liked it, because it was for her husband, she clapped her hands!
I hope he likes it half as much!
