What Are You Doing on Christmas Eve?

After a nice Thai lunch, we bought broccoli because we’re having
fondue for dinner tonight and steak for Christmas dinner. We
also bought scallions to make bean milk and crullers for
       Christmas breakfast.
After dinner we’ll go out for a short walk to see holiday nights
in the neighborhood. We don’t go far but we enjoy what we do.

       That sounds lovely!
We are going to a party at the home of some friends. It’s become
a tradition since the year I lost my car keys and couldn’t go to
my home state for Christmas. She and her parents had me over. Th
next year they added a couple of other friends, and now it’s
become a tradition. She called today and said her parents had to
go home because her mom is sick, so I’ll go over early and help
get the food out. When these all started we were both single,
and now she’s married and I will be soon.
Fiancé and I will head home early from there, to finish wrapping
presents and do a little more food prep for our two dinners
       tomorrow.

This morning I called a number of family and friends to wish
them a Happy Christmas Eve so that started the day off right.
Then I went out about two hours ago from a trip to the market
where I intended to buy littleneck clams and a vegetable for a
special dinner tonight. (I am crazy about steamed clams.) Alas,
       Whole Foods didn't have clams--they sold out yesterday--so I
went to Gelson's, a small southern California high-end chain. I
got the clams and a small T-bone steak. At both markets, the
traffic, parking, and crowds were insane. Nevertheless, I was
patient and polite. But I am very glad to be home again.
I love your idea of walking to see lights. I will do that too.
Plus, though I am still undecided on this, a local general
church is having a free concert of Christmas music so a friend
and I might see each other there, depending if we want to go.
And I plan to turn off all light but the Christmas tree, turn on
the London Symphony Orchestra's holiday concert and listen
       quietly. A good day!

I'm baking my little heart out and chopping quantities of celery
       and onions for tomorrow.

Put the Christmas tree together with the DGSs' aid, found a few
ornaments (many are missing - no idea what happened), decorated
the tree with gold garland & beads with the boys, then their dad
helped them put the ornaments on it, while Grandma set up the
kitchen to make fresh, home made chocolate chip cookies "for
       Santa" and now they're baking.
Still trying to figure out where the ornaments went - we checked
every logical place and a couple of illogical ones. That New
Year Resolution about continuing to do "spring cleaning" and
decluttering is looking like it's on the "standing list" for the
       coming year, again.

A local movieplex has been showing retro movies for the past few
months. Tonight, my sister and I went to see "It's A Wonderful
Life" on the big screen. It wasn't completely sold out, but it
was pretty full in there, and people really got into it. And
when "The End" was displayed, a lot of people applauded.
It was a lot of fun.

DH and I went out for lunch and DS and family asked us over for
supper, but we had to leave for them to have other family
Christmas. Cleaning and prep is all on schedule. I have even
started on tomorrow's schedule a bit. Everyone is coming .
That's all the kids and spouses and grandchildren and their SOs,
and three other guests. That is only 17, but goodness knows what
can still happen. I’m a pessimist by nature. Fingers crossed.
Everyone else seems to be happy, too. Christmas blessings to us
       all.

I had to work, but my husband and son went to his folks house
to see his cousin that was only in town for a few hours. We all
got home about 430 and take it easy most of the evening. We
decided to go ahead and do Christmas stockings early and then
opened our gifts since we’re going back to my in-laws tomorrow
for Christmas. He’ll be made chili to take with us

Had the family Christmas with children and grandchildren. It was
very nice. I will be able to relax on Christmas Day and eat
       leftovers.
