Things keep getting added to my schedule (more gifts, including
one that DH asked me to make, and--gasp-- work!) Tomorrow I'm
off due to working 2 days in a row, my maximum, and on Thursday
I'm going to got to a sewing, crafting and quilting show at our
nearby town's fairgrounds. So Tomorrow I sew! (No snickering!)

We wouldn't dream of snickering...

I have completely finished 45 ornaments and have another 30
stuffed, so those will be hand sewn closed tonight. I have
another 45 machine sewn and not yet stuffed, so I have work
enough for several days. Then I'll start the mug rugs.
I think I'm on target for getting everything done by Dec. 1,
which is when I want to start baking for the holidays. Christmas
Eve day I will make chocolate cinnamon rolls for Christmas
morning and put together the lasagna for Christmas dinner. (My
recipe calls for making and refrigerating it overnight. Which
makes Christmas day easier.)

Today I cut out some ornaments that are a gag gift for DH. They
have to do with Bigfoot. He is always saying that "he" exists.
So they will make great gifts for him. This weekend I will
finally start the mug rugs that I keep talking about.

Got more fiberfill and will stuff ornaments tonight, so I can do
the hand sewing tomorrow during my work breaks. Started the
cutting of strips so I can piece the rug mugs next week.
Everything is just moving slower than I thought it would. Might
be because I'm moving slower. ;D

My bedroom is tidy!
That might not sound like 'getting ready for Christmas', but I
want the house tidy before I start on the fun stuff like writing
Christmas cards, wrapping presents [they are all herded together
on one chest of drawers in the bedroom], and maybe knitting some
hats...
Today, I am [s]ignoring[/s] starting on the sitting room; wish
me luck?

Good luck! How did it go?
I'm making a piece of Christmas décor for several of the women
in our families - a coat hanger secured around a foam block,
which is then decorated with flowers, Christmas balls, etc., and
can be used as a door piece (thus the coat hanger) or a table
centerpiece, because greenery covers the hanger part. I've got
my supplies and will spend a weekend assembling them soon. Most
of our other shopping is done, but DH still has some metalwork
to do for a few people.

Last night I opened up my 10 lb. box of fiberfill and started
stuffing the stocking ornaments that are part of this year's
gift. Today I got almost all of those hand sewn closed. 35 out
of 37 are done. I have more to machine sew, but I need a break
for a minute or two. ;)
I've started the process of cutting 2 1/2 inch strips that will
be sewn together to make mug rugs. Need to do more of that this
weekend and try to start making them next week, since I'm only
working one day next week. My plan is to get lots of sleep and
do lots of sewing and start making doctor's appointments. (I'm
not too happy about the doctor's appointments.)

All ornaments are machine sewn, stuffed and hand stitched
closed. Done.
All but one set of fabric for the mug rugs has been: cut into
strips, put with coordinating strips, and the perfect "saying"
for that person. (The sayings are printed on fabric, each one is
a block that will go in the upper left hand corner of the mug
rug and then I will use the strips to do either log cabin or
rail fence quilting blocks. Once that is done, the quilted piece
will be layered with insulbright in the middle of the "sandwich"
and another piece of fabric on the bottom.)
The one set of fabric left to be cut has been ironed and is
hanging up, ready to be cut as soon as the dishes are done after
the dinner that my DH is making.
Baby steps because I've got a cold. Also I'm working an extra
day this week.

Today I finished the tops of 6 mug rugs. Next I need to finish
20 more tops, so about 3 more days for those, then I will layer
them with Insulbright, and a backing and quilt them. Finally, I
will put on the binding and call them done. Lots of work, but
I'm happy that I finally got started with the sewing. They are
not as hard as I worried they would be! Hurrah!
Coming back on to add that I got two more tops done.

I'm now up to 11 that are ready for binding. I'm pretty happy
with that. I bought a small cutting mat today, which I hope will
streamline the cutting the long strips into the pieces I need.
Just having a smaller area to clear, so that I can lay the mat
down, will help.
I'm hoping to get several more done tonight. But first I must
rest up from shopping and getting home via the bus. There is a
pretty long walk after I get off the bus, so it tires me.
I'm hoping that all of you are doing well on the things you are
trying to get done.
