I have tipped my movers for going above and beyond. And I have
not tipped movers who have just done the bare basics. It really
just depends on how well I thought they did their job. This last
move I tipped one but not the other because the one guy did all
the work. And he made sure that everything was done and cleaned
up before he left after an almost 12 hour day

I have tipped movers because I always seem to be moving on the
hottest day of the year, and making them go up or down stairs
with heavy boxes and furniture. I also stock the fridge with
water and soda because 'nobody's dying on my watch!'

My husband and I have thousands of books. We also have our
professional art and craft studios in our house. When we moved
to this house twenty years ago ( our last move ever!) we had
fantastic movers who went above and beyond their required
duties. We provided cold water, lemonade and doughnuts. At the
end of the move the lead hand told us the last time he had moved
so many books was when they moved the Vancouver East public
library ! How embarassing. We tipped the three movers $40.00
each and they deserved every cent. So tipping depends on the
service you get but the service depends on how well you treat
       the movers too.
