New House!

To balance out the bad news in the other thread, some good news!
My house in California sold, netting me a nice profit, and the
house that I bought closer to work closed this morning! Yay! No
more 50 mile 1-way commute every day! It's now more like 10. The
house is much bigger, and I'm looking forward to NOT having a
landlord. I'm planning on completely unpacking (I never
completely unpacked in the 3 years I was in the house I'm in
now), and doing a bunch of decluttering, both in the packing and
unpacking stages.
With the influx of cash from selling the house, which has
allowed me to pay off all of my debts, and moving closer to the
University, I hope to restart my research career, which has been
back-burnered for several years. I will now have time and energy
to devote to it. The backyard is also big enough for a vegetable
garden, which I haven't had since I left California, and have
missed.
Of course, I still have to move all of my stuff, and I'm deeply
concerned about my dog, but at least some things are looking up.

I think that's great news! I've followed the decision to stay
put vs. move to the Bahamas, and the magila with the landlord.
I hope this is an early start to a great 2019 :).

Thanks, Gui! It's been a rollercoaster, but I hope things are
trending upward!

That's brilliant news!
And we can look forward to you posting in the garden threads
now, and I'm hoping to read in a few months time "yeah, the move
was easy-peasy, because I was a star at decluttering, and a
rejuvenated Ariel loves this place"!
I'm keeping my fingers crossed to see that post soon.
