       Polite or Creepy?

I know that it's polite to hold a door open for the next person
when entering or leaving a building, but what about a genderless
       restroom?
When entering or leaving my local Starbucks I don't have a
problem with someone holding a door open. However, if I'm
waiting for the restroom and a man exits it and holds the door
open for me (the door opens inward) it creeps me out.
Am I paranoid or does this sound creepy to you?

I wouldn't think it should made a difference. If it creeps you
out, then it does, but unless there is some other evidence of
the person doing something "weird" I would try to get over it.

I find it awkward but not necessarily creepy.

Yeah, I can see it feeling a bit off. Giving the person the
benefit of the doubt, he's probably just trying to be a
gentleman and not thinking about how, since it's a restroom,
       it's kinda weird.
As Jem said, unless he did anything else which was
inappropriate, like a comment or a look, I wouldn't worry about
       it.

This seems perfectly normal to me.
At my work, all of our bathrooms have doors that open inward.
Anytime one person is exiting as someone is entering, there is
the awkward dance of trying to make room for each other. When
the person exiting holds the door, it's a much smoother flow.

A genderless restroom? I've never see one that I know of (In
       the U.S.).

They are normally one-person restroom. And they either just say
"restroom" or they have the symbols for men and women on the
       door.
I saw them everywhere on my recent vacation in which I drove
       through many states.
When the door opens INWARD, it's creepy. I agree it may be
well-intentioned, but I can see that it's weird to have stepped
into the room WITH him before he exits.
Feel free to stand back and gesture for him to come out.
I guess he thinks he's keeping the door from locking or
something--but then feel free to stand off by the hinge side and
place your arm on the door to hold it open, and gesture for him
       to come out.

I've seen them in several places. They generally have symbols
for both genders. An added benefit to it is for a parent with a
young child of the other gender.

We have them all over Los Angeles now, too. It's especially
true for single occupancy restrooms. That way the next person
in line gets to use the next restroom instead of having to wait
for the gender specific one. We also have "family" restrooms in
department stores so moms can take their sons and dads can take
their daughters into the restroom without having to take them
into the "wrong" one (sorry can't think of a better word for
       it).
Venus, I think it's just a matter of getting used to something
startlingly new. There are things I will NEVER get used to and
things I just shrug and think, "OK, this is a thing now." I
       sympathize.

Why in the world is this creepy?
