I would be careful about USB drives...sometimes others have put
viruses on them in the past, so people may not be keen to take
them if they are security conscious..

I haven't seen lanyards mentioned yet . . . I know that's
something we give away, but our company and most others that we
have conferences with wear badges.
Would this be something people would be interested in?

Now that would be handy!

Yes! I bought one by the cash register at a tourist place. It is
wonderful.

Um, I mentioned them in reply #51, but I don't blame you for
finding it TL;DR!
It could be the phone sock that distracted you. ;D
I have several [all useful], but the red one particularly
catches the eye and I know I can find my phone easily once I
spot it, so I would buy another if it was lost/'died'.

LOL! You're right, I missed that . . . I guess using a lanyard
to find a phone didn't connect with the normal use of a lanyard
(badges).
You are brilliant! ;D Now I'm trying to think of other uses for
lanyards.

I tried carrying my cell phone around on a lanyard - because
women's clothing doesn't always have pockets large enough for
the newer phones, among other reasons.
The poor phone kept swinging into drawer fronts and counter tops
when I bent over while cleaning or moving around the kitchen,
cooking. Not an improvement when you're trying to keep the
phone safer from harm.
It did not run any risk of getting wet, but the time it almost
swung into the porcelain tank on the toilet kind of made me
think that "there has to be a better way"!
For now, pockets, wrist strap on phone case, and carrying my
purse from room to room with me so that my phone is in the
purse...in a purple case - where it is somewhat easier to see
but protected from bumps & abrasion (I certainly hope).
I had a two part rubber & hard shell case on it last year - it
slid off a counter top, hit the stone floor tiles flat on its
front - and the lip on the case wasn't deep enough to protect
the screen. A week before Hurricane Harvey, I'm scramblinb to
find a way to get my phone fixed before Harvey makes landfall,
as I am going to need a working phone. Having 2/3 of the touch
screen black, green, and inoperative was not working out very
well - I figured it would be worse in case of an emergency.
I also swapped out the phone to a different case - and put a
protective screen film on it when the repair guy handed it back
to me at the onlly Best Buy in Houston that does phone repairs
(the one in Katy, just off I-10, on the west side, if anyone
needs to know).

not conference but casino swag - I once had a small flashlight
that was about 2-3" square, about 1/4" thick, hard clear plastic
with a picture inside, when you squeezed it the light turned on.
It was small but remarkably bright and lasted forever, it
seemed. Never saw another one like it.

The most attention getting at the last conference I was at was a
reusable grocery bag. The good quality ones with the long, wide
woven shoulder straps. Much better for collecting all the other
swag. I'd say at least 50% of the attendees were carrying them
around so lots of visual advertising wandering around the
convention space. Then they fold up small for packing. The draw
string bags are ok but not as easy to throw other swag in and I
don't use them once I get home, they just get tossed.
I like mini-tape measures, little flashlights, mciro-fiber
wipes, the quart size PVC travel cases (instead of using
ziploc), fold up back scratcher, rfid card holder, and mini lint
brush.

I like that!
I also like the letter openers that are roughly the size of a
credit card, with a long hook and a blade hidden in the corner.

They now come combined w/ a thumb drive.
And there's one that's combined w/ a staple remover--and I want
one so bad!

and one w/ a compartment for tiny sticky-note flags
