NewHomeowner talking about containers reminded me of some great
swag my husband picked up on a Track Day. He kept the Motorrad
stickers, but I got the little flip-top case and ear plugs -
great for the washbag, and my normal ear plugs fit in fine after
the freebies got binned.
He also gave me a red knitted mobile phone 'sock' [we still have
old style Nokias] and lanyard: I can never find my phone in my
handbag, but I now just spot the lanyard and pull. ;D On the
rare occasion I am waiting for a call I need to answer, I hang
the lanyard round my neck, and I can get to the phone before
Voicemail kicks in.
Thitpualso's post reminded me of the lovely silver Back Street
Heroes carrier bag, that is nearing the end of its days, sadly.
Oh, well, I've had nearly two decades' use from it. ;) ;D

I have a sewing room at my house and a sewing machine (still in
the box) at DD's house (I plan to carry shears, thread snips,
and the like back & forth - but I did buy a selection of threads
& spare bobbins to leave at her house with the machine). My
mother is borrowing one of my machines (at 82, she doesn't want
to spend a lot of time & energy finding a machine if she can use
one of mine - ah, I had a spare...).
But when it comes to a sewing kit to keep in my purse - well, I
want something no larger than a deck of cards & smaller is
better - but that means that when I run out of thread or the
needle in the one that came from the hotel breaks - I need
another whole kit because it's too hard to refill the tiny
little sliding plastic case...and I will be carrying it in my
purse for months, possibly years, depending on how long it is
before I have a "sewing emergency".
I did have a larger sewing kit when I was carrying around a
brief case "back in the day" - but that was then. Now - the
little match book sized sewing kits aren't quite big
enough...having three threaded needles means that I may run out
of thread if I have to reattach more than two buttons...and I
better not loose more than one shirt button - but anything
bigger than a deck of cards or an Altoids tin is too large. If
I get a smaller purse, I may have to find a smaller Altoids tin.

I like the stick-on pockets you can put on your cell phone or
phone case to hold a credit card.

I also like the pet-food can lids (which I use for more than pet
food), and the snap-on soda-can lids.

I picked up a couple of sewing kits somewhere, just because each
one has a teeny-tiny pair of scissors in it!! I couldn't resist.

I wish I could come across teeny scissors like those vintagegirl
found!! </envy> ;D
VorFemme, I have a case that is somewhere in sizs between
Gutermann and Silko thread reels, and contains 300 strands in 27
colours of polyester thread: I can't find a picture of the one I
have, but this Prym example shows the 'woven' strands

The
case is large enough to contain a needle threader as well, and
if you are happy with your nail clippers (instead of scissors),
both are lightweight and would easily fit in those pockets
handbags seem to have.
The thread weave is the size that would squish (easily) into an
old-fashioned 35mm film cannister, if that give an indication of
size, and I have sewn up hems with a couple of strands, buttons
with way less than one strand and repaired all the bits that
came adrift on an apron with less than one strand.

I have one of those braids of colored threads in my larger
sewing kit (left at DD's? - can't lay my hand on it at the
moment) and had one in "military uniform colors" in my old
sewing kit from uniform clothing sales - which is what led me to
go looking for that "braid" in civilian colors. I love the
convenience and the number of strands of thread in that thing!
I don't have the pebble of needles - I do have about six needle
packs, accumulated over decades (we move, the sewing stuff got
packed & put on the van, somene does something & I have to mend
it NOW because, well, moving van has most of our clothes & my
sewing stuff on it - so I go buy a few needles and a couple of
spools of thread - unless we're at a hotel that gives out sewing
kits)...but since I never throw any GOOD* sewing stuff away, it
accumulates.
* It never gets cheaper to buy another one a few months or years
later. It can get a lot harder to find one at all, in some
cases!

I have never found the teeny scissors to work. I keep a pair of
folding scissors in each vehicle. They are all metal, 3" long
unfolded, 1" wide and 2" long when folded, and 1" blades. I
found each one in a sewing department of a department store.

The best one I ever got was a magnifier glass. It was plastic
and the size and width of a credit card. Mine is all scratched
up now but I used it a lot.
