I do not know which industry you are in, but I am a jeweler, and
a 6" ruler with both inches and mm and outlines of some common
bead and cabochon sizes (thank you, Fire Mountain Gems!) is just
wonderful for me. I have a couple from different shows, and keep
one taped to the top of my "travel" tools case. Yes, I have
called the 800 number off one of the rulers to ask a question
before ordering. Another useful thing is small zip-top pouches,
about 3x5" or so, like a coin purse. For earphones, charger
wires, change for the vending machine, etc. etc. I love these!

Microfiber cleaning clothes to fit in pocket or purse for
cleaning cell phone screens, camera lenses, and glasses. The
logo can go on a corner of the cloth or on a little vinyl case
that it folds into (or both). Glasses cleaners of any kind are
welcome - sunglasses need cleaning, too!
Good pens are always welcome - I'm carrying a small notepad with
a good pen & sticky notes in it that was given out by a fire
department. Sticky notes & a pen in one package can be very
       useful.
I have an older small USB flash drive that I use to make a
"network key" when we get a new modem or router - after setting
up the network on the first computer - I copy the information to
that 1/4GB flash drive and hand it to VorGuy & VorSon for them
to set up their laptops - then hold onto it for guests that
we're going to let connect to the network. It comes in handy...
I think that it might have a couple of diagnostic programs on
it, too. The kind that you'd use to do simple troubleshooting
(Malwarebytes has a "clean up" utility that can be run from a
flash drive even if the malware on the computer doesn't want to
let you install any malware removal programs - helps a lot) or a
quick cleanup of something keeping the computer from being used.
VorGuy looses umbrellas - so getting another one is always
helpful! But we haven't been getting too much swag since he
retired the end of 2015, we're not going to that sort of event
       much any more.
A tote bag - I have one that I bought at the Houston
International Quilt Show a few years ago that has a fold out
pocket section that means it can carry rolls of embroidery
stabilizer or six bottles of wine in separate pockets to keep
either upright & not banging into each other...I don't leave
that one in the car - VorGuy has a tendency to loose the
reusable shopping bags - I don't know how or why, they just
       vanish swiftly and silently away...

We used to have a flyswatter advertising a firm called "Budget
Pest Control." Made me laugh every time I saw it, talk about
       truth in advertising.
And what kind of business is handing out mouthwash?? Yikes.
I like anything except pens (got a zillion of them) and key
       rings.

Mouthwash was from a dental supply company or a dentist chain.
That was at a trade fair about 15 years ago. Makes sense to me.

Sometimes, promotional merchandise can backfire a bit. One was
a really nice tote bag i took on vacation without thinking.
I found myself walking around Budapest with a bag put out by the
Chamber of Commerce of St. Francisville, LA. Nothing could
       scream ‘Tourist’ louder.

The most useful items I've gotten are good quality pens (some of
my favorites, I never buy pens now) and the small microfiber
cloths used to clean my glasses.

I thought I'd add small but not invisibly so sewing/mending kits
       - with more than three colors of thread, preferably. I used to
have one with a tiny pair of scissors for cutting threads - but
it broke quickly. The nail clippers from my manicure set (small
one that fits in my purse) work just as well and come in handy
with broken or chipped nails, too.

Favorites I'm still using (I recently threw out a lot of bags
       and lunch bags):
       - Notebook with strong plastic cover that had sticky notes and
business card holders on the first page.
       - keyring with a styles on the one side (it clips off) and light
       on the other side).
       - Mobile Screen wipe with spray.
       - USB sticks
       - Hand sanitiser
       - Good quality pens as others have mentioned.
       - Small sewing kit that fits into my wallet. (Love Anything that
       fits into my wallet)...
