Usually inside the magazine on one of the first few pages,
you'll find the information. If there's an email address, take a
picture of the mailing label and email it to them to let them
know they have the wrong address. They'll need information from
the label to make the correction. I've done this quite a few
times at work. If there wasn't an email address, I went to their
web site and found "Contact us."

I made several phone calls a few years ago - I was moving out in
two weeks when I got a letter with a photo of a vehicle
registered to that address (it said) running a red light some
three hours north of the house. With comments about needing to
pay the ticket and get in touch with That County about the
points on the driving record.
The vehicle in the photo from the red light camera was a pick up
(Ute) that we have never owned that was black and the county of
record for where it was garaged was That County some three hours
north of My County.
I called the local county to let them know that the address of
record (ours) did not have a vehicle of that description with
that license plate. They told me that they couldn't discuss it
since I was saying that I didn't own it. So I called That
County and got told the same thing - except that if I didn't pay
the ticket, they would be sending law enforcement to serve a
warrant.
I called Local County back to tell them that I didn't care who
owned the vehicle or where it was garaged, but we had built the
house at that address some six years earlier, we had never owned
a black pickup (of any color, actually), I had been in the local
area with witnesses about two hours before the time of the
ticket (so, no time to drive from where I was to that location
and run a red light) and my spouse was in Texas and had been at
work that day - so some twelve hours of driving. Whoever did
own the vehicle, there had been a mistake in entering the
address of record and the state's attempts to contact the
vehicle's owner were not going to work as long as they were
sending mail to the wrong address in the wrong county - but as I
was leaving to move to Texas - I was not going to be there to
send the next letter back - or call anyone.

sort of mis-sent - my late MIL sent me a card in VT, with the
CORRECT zip code, but because she had cursive handwriting, it
looked like a UT instead of a VT, and it went to Utah before
eventually coming back to me in VT. What's the point of zip
codes if no one is reading them

For about five years we were getting mail for twenty people said
to be living with us in our two bedroom apartment. Because the
building was a gut renovation and we moved in on the first day
it was approved for occupancy there was no way any of these
people could have possibly lived in our space.
All of the mail was composed of catalogs or general junk mail.
Still, it was most annoying and I did worry about the housing
authority thinking we were running an illegal boarding house.

We believe there were at least two families living in our house
prior to our purchasing it. We were receiving mail for many
names for months after we bought our house and also receiving
phone calls from bill collectors and skip tracers for these same
individuals. We realized fairly quickly that they must have
skipped out on every bill they owed and did not have their mail
forwarded by the post office. In fact, we even got a phone call
from their realtor asking where their mail was a few weeks after
we moved in! I told her that all their mail was returned to the
post office and they needed to put a forwarding order in. I
honestly don't know what she believed was going to be different
about that situation.
After several years of this, and continuing to get mail for not
only these individuals but other individuals who owned this
house over the years (it's over 40 years old), I finally went to
our local post office and asked to speak to the postmaster. He
gave me a form to fill out with all of the names that *should*
be delivered. Then they put a sticker inside our mailbox that
has just our last names, plus my maiden name and previous
married name (just in case). This has fixed the problem unless
we get a sub who doesn't look.

We keep getting mail for past residents (bought the house &
moved in during the summer of 2005) -even with a sticker on the
inside showing that only our last name mail should be delivered.
I marked "return to sender" on a letter to an out of state
address earlier this week. It's been thirteen years, durn it!

That didn't work for me. I think they file those forms in the
trash at my post office.

I once got a notice from my insurance that a psychologist in
Californiawas submitting an invoice to my insurance for treating
my son. Only problem is we live in Pennsylvania and have never
set foot in California. Also, this psychologist specialized in
adolescent treatment and BeagleBoy was only five at the time.
I had to call my insurance since there was no contact
information for the psychologist and explain that we had never
been to California and BB had never seen any type of therapist.
Woman on the phone asked if maybe BB had seen him at a different
time and I point blank asked "why would I send my 5-year-old to
an adolescent psychiatrist in California when we live in
Pennsylvania?". Her reply was "Oh. Right. We'll fix it.
Sorry.".

My elderly dog is nearly 16 and has disk degeneration in his
spinal column, making it difficult for him to walk. He's still
spry and alert and in otherwise good health, but his back legs
won't do what he wants them to. So I went on Amazon and got him
a pet stroller, so that he could come along when I walk the
other dog who, at 4, bounds along a lot faster than poor Lucas
can manage anymore.
Got the stroller, put it together, and happily took both dogs
for walkies, which Lucas absolutely loves.*
What did I start getting in the mail? Baby stuff. Diapers,
formula, coupons for baby things, ads for baby furniture. Mind
you, the stroller was clearly labeled PET STROLLER, but I'm
still being inundated with baby stuff.
*He's gotten spoiled. Because I'm working from home, Lucas has
decided that anytime I put pants on, he should go for a walk.
