High maintenance supervisor

I work at a grocery store as a cashier.
There is a new supervisor/manager trainee who is high
maintenance.
She is driving the front end staff crazy.
What is the best way to deal with her at work?

What do you mean by “high maintenance?” If this person is your
manager/supervisor then you should do what they ask you to do.

Hard to answer such a vague question as it depends entirely on
what she is doing. Some things might drive you crazy but be
completely reasonable as part of the job; or she may be a
whackadoodle but we can't tell based on what you've said so far.
Provide more details please.

I think you need to provide examples of the behavior. It's hard
to give advice without specifics. Each of us could have a
different vision of what high maintenance means.

The short version of this is that when she is managing the front
end, she is like a hurricane or a tornado.

I think we still need examples that are a little more specific.
Hurricane or tornado just sounds like she's running through the
store throwing stuff on the floor.
Is she yelling a lot when it's not appropriate? Is she
disorganized? Is she micromanaging?

She micromanages, and she is disorganized.

Welcome to the real world. In most situations like this, you
have two choices. One is to accept it. Or quit.
And don't even think about going to her Boss.
She micromanages, and she is disorganized.
One possible strategy with a manager like this is to
micro-manage her; that is, come to her with issues before she
has a chance to bring them to you. If she insists on you
bringing her X piece of paperwork to sign off before you do
something, chase her round the building with it till you can get
it signed. If she gave instructions for things to be stacked
just so or done in ABC order, and that hasn't happened, or isn't
practicable to do, besiege her with queries about whether she
wants you to deal with the situation by doing X or Y. This
really needs to be a concerted campaign by the whole team, but
with luck and skill, you may wear her out into saying 'Look, you
don't need to have me sign this off, just do it' or Use your own
judgement'.
