91 degrees and I am baking , yes, I must be nuts- but chard is
coming up out the wazoo so a Swiss chard/bacon/ceddar/onion
quiche with a strawberry rhubarb (ooozy)pie for dessert.
Strawberries are almost done for the season.

Those look amazing.
I'm in the process of making hamburger steaks and red gravy,
carrots and braised celery. Rice to go with gravy will be made
later.
Also, I just finished up picking the meat off 1/2 dozen chicken
carcasses that were cooked yesterday. The ensuing stock filled 6
and 1/2 pints of glorious chicken "jelly" to go in the freezer.
Not sure why, but I don't mind cooking in the heat. ( I have
app. 2 1/2 pounds of chicken on the freezer for making schmaltz,
but that is for another day.)

Dh grilled sirloin strip steak along with summer squash and corn
on the cob. I threw together a macaroni salad. And there were
fresh cherries for dessert. I love all the fresh produce
available this time of year.

DH and I had caught some red fish from the kayaks last month.
Grilled the last from the freezer last night with a court
boullion sauce.
Today is DH's bday. We will be eating out, but DD is making a
summer berry cobbler.
Tomorrow our supper club is getting together for dinner. The
host is doing pheasent and I'm taking the app. I received some
lovely figs over the weekend so thinking of doing a flatbread of
figs, ricotta, prosciutto and a balsamic drizzle. Can't decide
if I want to add blue cheese or goat cheese. Goat cheese seems
more summery. I might do some basil or arugula toppings.

To me goat cheese is just tangy, but blue cheese brings
something totally different to the table...

I brined some pork chops and parboiled some red bliss potato
slices then tossed them with garlic and olive oil. The chops and
potatoes went on the grill. I finally got a chance to try to
make coleslaw loosely based on the Barefoot Contessa's recipe.
The chops came out really good but the potatoes were just ok -
not worth all the work. The coleslaw was really good too which
makes me happy. I've been looking for a recipe that we like for
a long time.

I'm cleaning out the freezer to make space, so I had one of my
containers of meat and vegetable soup with some rye bread for
dinner tonight. Dessert is honey bourbon peaches from the
farmer's market. I like to buy interesting things there to give
as hostess gifts, so I'm seeing if these are possibles. They are
OK, but I guess I don't like bourbon enough to make them a
viable gift.

I have no idea how I have missed this thread!
We are trying to eat healthy here, so tonight, DH made grilled
whole chicken, stir fried veggies and acorn squash. I'm on deck
for tomorrow so who knows!

Dinner tonight was slow-cooked beef stroganoff over egg noodles,
steamed broccoli, and a mini apple pie with vanilla ice cream. I
will have hot cider later on. This was my first try at
stroganoff and it worked really well. I will add more thyme and
pepper next time, I think.
