I bought some very soft and thin yarn but working with it to
make something adult size is a nightmare. However, perfect for
making little hats for premature babies. Once I go through my
stash, I should have about 25 to 30 little caps I'll bring to
the children's hospital.

I belong to an organization called “Cover Girls” that donates
homemade blankets (quilted, crocheted, knitted) to various local
children’s charities. For example, the housing facilities for
St. Jude Hospital receive several hundred blankets from us
yearly.
Blankets are brought to a monthly meeting, where they are
inventoried and organized for distribution later by the group
leader. Once in a while, we get a thank you note from an
organization, but most of time, once you donate a blanket, you
simply have to have faith that it will find its way to the right
child.
It’s been interesting (sometimes heart-breaking) to learn about
the organizations that exist to help children. We donate to a
couple of places that care for emotionally disturbed children.
These places will accept quilts but not crocheted or knitted
blankets. Warning: the reason may be TMI:
The children will unravel the yarn blankets and attempt
to hang themselves.
Wow, that's great your group can do so much, and I love the name
of it! That is sad about the yarn blankets, but I am glad there
are other places those ones can be donated.

And thanks for using the SPOILER - now I know how that works!
But I'll probably forget as I don't usually have anything like
that to tell anyone!
