Gross Out (Not for the faint of heart redux)
By: Reika Date: May 11, 2018, 4:03 pm

Since I have a story for this, figured I'd restart the thread
       here. :D
Sadly, it's not the equal to one of Vorbau's stories, but maybe
       future ones will qualify.
My darling fluffball, Patches, sneezed all over my arm, she then
proceeded to wipe her slightly drippy nose on my arm the way we
       would with a tissue.
I was fairly grossed out, my cat was enormously pleased with
       herself.

       Oh I bet she was!
I have some LOVELY bruises on my arm now. I was supposed to have
a couple of tests done today that required an IV - with a
large-ish needle (18, for those who know such things). 6 people
       - 2 techs for test 1, a nurse, a nurse supervisor, an ED nurse,
and an Assistant Director of Radiology (who is used to sticking
people with lousy veins) all tried and failed.
My arms now look like either I'm a junkie with bad aim, or I've
been attacked by a drunk baby vampire.

As a fellow sufferer of veins that go into hiding, I hear you on
that! Was recently in the hospital due to mangling myself
through stupidity, between the attempts at the IV insertions and
blood draws, my arms looked like I'd been through an accident or
       something.
The best insertion was done by a radiology tech who used an
ultrasound to find the best insertion point.

My Grandmother was another one with teeny tiny veins. Whenever
she was admitted to the hospital, they had to get someone from
NICU to set the IV. They are used to teensy veins.

I wish we could import all of Vorbau's stories here.

       Yesterday's gross-out: finding a (long-abandoned) headless rat
corpse; it smelled, but was nearer to skeleton than
       stink-a-thon, thank goodness.
       Thanks(?), cats!

Got to love it when the cats leave little "treasures" like that!

I forgot to say: thank you for starting this thread! I think
the mods have "disappeared" my mistake, but I thought the
"lovely gift" was worth mentioning. ;D

On FB, there's a pic floating around of someone's mistake,
posting a sign for "Mouse Filled Party Cakes". I shared it, and
a friend replied with a video of the sort of party those are
meant for - it's the video of someone's cat depositing a dead
mouse in their glass of wine!
       "Here. Your wine needs garnish."

A slightly older story, but gross and funny.
To understand, you have to know a little bit about companion
birds. In the wild, birds' primary form of self protection is
the ability to escape quickly if they're being hunted by a
predator. One of the ways they do this is to become as light as
possible. This means that the sequence of events that leads to
a rapid take off is to expel any waste they may have built up
since the last time they pooped. In layman's terms, they get
frightened, they poop, then they take off. Since companion
birds don't have the daily threats that wild birds do, this
behavior has turned into a form of communication. When a bird
is annoyed or otherwise doesn't like you, they stare at you and
poop deliberately. Also important is most companion birds form
a strong bond with one human and have varying degrees of dislike
       for everybody else.
Enter Charlotte the one winged macaw. She LOVED my SO. To that
end, she saw me as her competition and main rival, so she hated
me, and she let me know it. She turned projectile pooping into
an art form. I think the longest she ever shot poop across the
room was about 5 feet. But that's not the gross part. She used
to hang upside down from the top of her cage, make eye contact
with me, and then poop *up*. Given that her cage was 6.5 feet
tall and my ceilings are only 8 feet high, this means I spent
far more time than I'd like to admit cleaning bird poop off the
       ceiling.
