       I'm wondering if your aunt, the bride's mother, forced the baby
       shower on the HC.  Perhaps they didn't even want a shower, but
       capitulated to avoid conflict.
       It really does seem crass to invite people to a baby shower who
       don't know the bride well enough to know she's pregnant.
