Yeah, I'd get anything valuable that you don't *need* to have
with you into some sort of safe storage. Once that's done, I'd
try to disengage as much as possible.

homosexuality or people of color--it doesn't change the reality.

I think it's best to tell him the truth in a non-angry way.
"I don't want to talk about that."
It's simple and it's not argumentative.
Also, as others have said, avoid him as much as possible and
don't accept any favors, especially rides. Being cooped up in a
car with someone who says things that you find offensive is not
       worth the free ride.

First of all, do not accept rides or any other favors from him,
no matter how convenient, because you are giving him a double
message and frankly if you continue to do so your complaints
will be hypocritical. You cannot have it both ways.
As for offensive topics, just tell him you'd rather not discuss
it no matter how much he tries to persist. Don't be rude but you
might have to say it in different ways until he catches on
       you're not going to cave.

OP, I'm so sorry you have to endure this living situation.
Everyone here has already given great advice, so I'll just add:
double down on your attempts to find a job. Once you have a job,
and some financial stability, it'll make moving out much more
       feasible.
Also, it's not clear from your post whether the "two months" is
the period left on your lease, or whether your landlord has told
you that he's moving out in two months. If it's the latter,
don't trust him! Be aware that he may stay a lot longer than
       that!

This is where "do not engage the crazy" motto comes in. You
cannot and will not convince a nonrational person to change
their mind on a subject via a rational discussion, you will just
piss them off and they will double down their bigoted diatribe
       directed towards you.
The best you can do is accecpt nothing from this man. The car
ride thing was nothing but a demonstration of his control over
you. You were at his mercy, don't be. Remove any valuables you
have. I'd suggest a safety deposit box for your important papers
and such, but seriously, get everything that he can sell,
destroy, etc out of his reach.

As others have said, try to spend as little time as necessary
       with this oaf.
       Don't take rides from him
Don't accept any offers to help you (with a job, money,
       information, etc)
I've often found one word answers help to dissuade people like
       him from engaging. Example:
       What are you reading?
       A book.
       What type of book?
       Nothing special.
       Do you like it?
       Yes.
       Why?
       Because.
If he can't get anything else from you he will probably get
bored and move on to someone who will engage with him.

       Dear Everyone here
My landlord moved out and back to Texas for the time being. I
sent him a note telling him that I would be moving out in 30
days. I don't have a place to move to and I may need to stay.
We have been having an ant problem for some time now and he is
knows about it. Other roommates has sent photos and complained.
He told us we had to fix it. I just sent him a scathing email
with photos and a state law rental document. Maybe he will fix
the issue or maybe he will insist that I leave in 30 days but
this is what I wrote him.
       What do you guys think?
       Dear Landlord
Last week I had a very disturbing experience at work. I started
a new job and when I went to give the HR person my
identification cards when a swarm of ants came running out of my
purse and bit both her and the other newly hired person as well
as myself. Apparently, I left a few pieces of hard candy in my
purse and dozens of ants came into it to feed. Luckily, I
explained that the house that I was living in was infested and
       the HR person understood.
I cannot leave dry cereal in its box because ants will get to
it. Neither Roommate A nor I can leave dry cat food out for any
length of time or it will be swarming with ants. I have never
lived in a house with this kind of problem before. Today, I
threw out a big box of dry cat treats because the ants got to
them as well. When I sleep the ants crawl on me and bite me. I
have also seen them on my cat as well.
In the last 43 years, I have never lived with a pest issue like
this. It is to the point where I fear that it may be a health
hazard to continue to live in these circumstances.
Roommate A, B and I have sprayed the interior of the house and
used ant bait traps. We also don’t leave food out nor do we
leave any dirty dishes in the sink.
As you can see from some of the photos there are ants on the
walls and A has pictures of them on the ceiling. I have also
       observed them in the bathroom.
As we tenants have tried to remedy this situation to the best of
our abilities as renters it now becomes a landlord issue. Please
read the attached document page 4.
Please remedy this immediately. I believe that this may be a
       health hazard.
You have spoken to me about being a good Christian in the past.
If you really are a good Christian then please do your duty to
       us now.
       Thank you,
       Kittyfan 43
