Re: How About Some Mondergreens?

As a child I thought for a long time that the three kings we
sang about in the Christmas carol came from a country called
Orientar.
I knew that ancient Sparta had been ruled by two kings at a
time, so it didn't seem that unreasonable for ancient Orientar
to have had three at a time.

One I just learned today :-[.
The Eagles' "Take It Easy" has the (correct) line, "Don't let
the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy".
For the *ahem* many years I've sung that song, I thought the
line was "Don't let the sound you hear on me drive you crazy".

Goodness me ! I had much the same misapprehension as a child --
only I envisaged in the far-distant reaches of the world, wide
areas called Oarie; and Taar: big enough to contain at least
three different kingdoms. I wasn't the child aficionado of
ancient Greece that you seem to have been :) .

Mick Jagger did NOT sing about Tommy the Trumpet but
"You got to roll me and call me the tumblin'
Roll me and call me the tumblin' dice"
Also Greg Allman did not go
down to the whippin' post
but really was
tied to the whippin' post.
But CCR definetely sang memories of elephants in MY radio!

And another one I just learned:
In the Beatles song "A Day In The Life" (I think that's the
title)
It's 'I Read The News Today, Oh Boy. Four Thousand Holes In
Blackburn, Lancashire"
Not as I heard it, which was "A Thousand Photographs In
Lancashire" ::)

Speaking of the Beatles, for years I thought "Paperback Writer"
was "Take the Back Right Turn." Especially the opening phrase of
the song.
Ever hear of the little boy who came home from Sunday school
insisting that God's name was Howard? He'd learned the Lord's
Prayer: "Our Father who art in heaven, Howard be thy name..."

I love the story I heard once about a little girl drawing a
picture of the baby Jesus in a manger, surrounded by Mary,
Joseph, angels - and a large fat man.
When asked who he was, she explained he was Round John Virgin.

I misheard "Tom Sawyer" by Rush as:
"Monday Morning" instead of "A modern day warrior"
and
"No worries" instead of "The world is".
I did not find out the correct lyrics till I witnessed it
performed live at the Time Machine concert in 2010!!!

I "pledge[d] a Legions to the flag..." which made perfect sense
to kindergarten Ida because Ida's daddy Hooda was a longtime
member of the American Legion and spent a lot of time there.
