Pictures

[attach=2]huh... it looks like we can post pictures - there's a
spot down below that has Attach: so I am going to try it. Here's
a card I made. (my quilt pictures exceeded the size allowed!)
[attachimg=1]
edit: I don't know why it's sideways! I don't have time to edit
it right now, but at least it works, though you have to edit the
picture to be under 512 kb
edit 2: hopefully it's no longer sideways - I am also trying out
the "end-of-post expandable thumbnail".
edit 3: well at least it's right side up now... don't know how
to get it to be made smaller

Awesome three dimensional card, but it's so huge it doesn't all
fit on the screen. You have to slide it around to see the whole
thing.

I know - but I just attached as "in line full image" and that's
what it did! I will experiment more later but I have to go out
this morning and won't be back until this evening. You give it a
try! I am sure you must have something that you can show us,
you're so prolific!

Love that. How did you do it?

Thank you! It's called origami architecture, and basically it's
made from card stock. I photocopy the design from the book, then
place it on the card stock and tape it down. Then you cut out
the bits that aren't the tree (LOL! Just thinking of the joke
about the sculptor that just cuts off the bits that aren't the
object!). Putting it together requires a bit of glue or tape,
and some thread. Not hard, except where the Japanese translated
to English and the pictures don't quite make sense so you have
to work it out yourself. This one wasn't too bad. There are some
really wild and fabulous creations that can take quite a bit of
time to do, but mostly I stick to the smaller ones for cards.

Does it pop up like a fold-out card? Or is it fixed in place?
I'm searching for ideas for a raptor card for my brother's
upcoming birthday - I have loads of time, so I might have fun
till I find what I want!

It does fold down so yes, it's a pop-up card. You might be able
to find something on line - i am pretty sure I saw a dinosaur
type one... somewhere!

Thanks, Pattycake - I have a file of links to things I might
try; I've added "origami architecture" to that. Once I can
understand basic principles, I love having a 'play' with what
else I could do.

I'm nuts about popup cards. I "cheat" though, I cut them out
with metal dies rather than hand cut.
I have a lot of dies from Karen Burniston. I made a couple of
popup palm tree cards with a tiny monkey the other day. I love
to make greeting cards and very seldom make a "regular" one
anymore. It has to popup or flip or slide!
