Okay, so I broke my "no new purchases" rule this weekend. I was
on vacation, so that doesn't count, right? ;) Wandering through
an antique mall, of all places, and came upon a basket full of
raw Blue Faced Leicester fleece. Bought it all--30 ounces--for
just over $20. It called my name, it was a fantastic bargain,
and again, vacation purchases don't count. Hopefully I can start
washing and carding this weekend. Yay!
[/quote]
I think some things are so necessary that it's OK to break a
rule? The $20 will be forgotten in a few days/weeks, but if you
didn't get the fleece you'd be thinking about it for months to
come.
Well, you would if you're anything like me. ;D
You do realise we'll want to see photos, don't you: raw fleece,
spun yarn, and finished product. ;)

Here's the fleece, and a sample of how it washes up. Can't wait
to get going on it! Although it's been beastly hot here, so I
may have to wait for cooler weather to mess with it.

Oh wow! Thanks for posting those shots. That is an amazing
difference - I'll look forward to further pics, once the weather
cools down. I'm pretty sure spinning should be a winter evening
thing. ;)

Well, it keeps me off the streets and out of the bars, anyway.
;) I tell people my husband begs me to become addicted to crack;
it would be a lot cheaper than my fiber obsession.

I like going to craft & fabric sources that I don't have "at
home" - so I have some interesting buttons and other items in my
"stash" that I count as both stash and souvenirs.
I still haven't found the garment to use the tiger's eye stone
buttons in (I forget if I bought on or three - but I have a few
expensive buttons that I bought to use as "stand alone"
fasteners on real linen garments). Even if I have to do
something like taking them off to wash the garment, once I
finish the design & fabrication!

I have a number of cross stitch projects going at the moment and
just finished one, the Satsuma Street Spring StitchAlong in
Warm. I can't get a picture small enough to post, I'll work on
that.

Today I got everything except the hand sewing done on eight
infinity scarves. Hurrah for me! It has been warm here, so I can
only sew during the cool hours. I think it makes me more
focused. Tomorrow I'll do the waistbands for two pair of
lounging pants. Then on to the elephant in the room: The quilt
for our DGD. Hope to get several rows pieced by tomorrow
evening.
