       Current Projects

For posting whatever crafty thing you are working on right now.
I am in another group that does quilts for First Responders with
PTSD, and we also have done a few memorial quilts for those that
have passed away, though we are in the midst of refocusing to
just do the PTSD ones as there are a few memorial quilt groups.
As no one has signed up for our last memorial quilt, I am going
to piece it together. The quilts we do are made from cross
stitched squares that show the person's interests, job
interests, nationality/region. This man was from an Irish
background, and many of the stitchers chose that as a theme, so
this quilt is going to be quite...green! I will post a picture
       when it's done.

Please do post the pic, Pattycake - I loved the ones of your
       Mountie quilts.
Edited because I just noticed you got a capital letter!

My mother & daughter have been visiting for VorSon's college
graduation. VorGuy grilled yesterday, we went shopping for
beads & patterns at JoAnn's, and went out for pizza with VorSon
for lunch (meat was being rubbed with spices & allowed to set).
Some of those beads are already a new bracelet for Mom (happy
Mothers' Day), I repaired two older bracelets, strung a necklace
"custom designed" for a gold linen shift dress & a crimson linen
shift dress with an open "linen coat" built into it. Mom wanted
something to fill in the neckline without putting pressure on
the back of her neck. She's 81 - she describes what she wants
and I see what I can do....
DD also got something (hair pins with "turquoise" peacocks on
them - to pin her teal, pink, & purple hair back the next time
she goes to a renaissance festival - the one in her state has a
peacock themed tea room with wonderful food, custom blended
teas, and a discount if the person paying is wearing a peacock -
not just a feather - whole bird only). She has been avid in
collecting them for wearing the rest of the year, too...I just
spent two weeks at her house - so I had done a few other things
for her. "Turquoise & silver" skull earrings to match a
bracelet and the necklace is still a work in progress (three
year olds and small beads do not go together well). I did
finish the earrings, though - a smaller project that took
       minutes to complete.
I need to remember to take more pictures...I do have more beads
in the bead box to work with...

LOL! I wasn't sure whether to capitalize or not when I signed up
here, then I realized it did bug me. Though it doesn't bother me
when others don't capitalize themselves. I was going to change
the name but then though eh, why bother. Thanks for your kind
words on the mountie quilt. This one is a mountie quilt as well.
       But green... really green...

I finished 6 bibs and two covers/holders for the individual size
       packages of facial tissues.

I started knitting a pullover, knitted in the round, so no
seams. It's a very complex project for the level of knitting I
can do, but one row at a time :).
I also learned to do mittens, so I'm making a series of
fingerless mittens and I've had quite a few nice reactions to
them. I'll probably get some orders in the fall.

When I have the 4am brain in hamster-on-a-wheel mode, I
fantasise about a seamfree pullover... <Insert drooling smiley>
We're happy to see progress pics, as well as those of the
finished item, you know! </heavy hint>
Are you starting at the top, or the bottom, coralreef?
Everytime I think of the logistics [4am thinking, remember?], I
imagine it could get like wrestling an octopus, having a cushion
tucked under one arm, whilst armed with only two blunt
       pencils... ;) ;D

The serger is in serger hospital; however, he said the needles
didn't need replacing, so I've been changing those often enough
and the cutting blade is fine. It just needs to be lubed,
according to my sewing machine guy. So that is the sewing
related thing I got done today.

I sent hair scrunchies to my DD's SIL, who I consider one of my
daughters. She had complained that she couldn't find any that
were satin, so I made her a bunch and she loved them. She put on
Facebook: "I'm not even married and I have the best
Mother-in-law in the world!" Made me laugh.
At SIL and DD's wedding, a toast was made by a groomsman, and he
said, "To {bride's} parents, you are not losing a daughter, you
       are gaining a son."
I responded, "No, we are gaining a family!"
I truly love SIL and his entire family so, when they mention
something, I like to make things for them.

Here are the fingerless mittens. Great for chilled fingers that
still need to type and file in an office with overactive A/C or
       on a chilly day :).

I'm having problems with sizing the picture, but this should
still work if you click on the thumbnail.
