What pairs well with Dill . . .

. . . in bread?
DD#2 received a sourdough starter from DD#1* and she has been
baking up a storm. She likes adding ingredients to her bread
dough like various cheeses, garlic, peppers, sun dried tomatoes,
etc. for an extra ooomph. Her bread is always delicious.
She told me that she received a gift of fresh dill from one of
her clients and said that she thought that would be good in
bread. Then asked me what other ingredient would go well with
dill.
I was stumped. I mean, I cook with dill and know what
ingredients it pairs well with, but in a bread? Wasn't sure.
Do you have any thoughts? What would you like to be included in
a dill bread loaf?
*I have to give credit to DD#1. She taught DD#2 everything she
knows about baking sourdough bread, beagles, crepes, pasta,
donuts, etc.

The only dish I’ve used dill in is a cucumber, dill, mayo, and a
little lemon juice for a side salad. I can’t imagine it would be
good in a bread. Let us know her results, would love to try
something new.

Let the dill shine with the sourdough alone and use it for
savory sandwiches like cheese and lettuce. Or something with
tomatoes. Wouldn't dill bread taste good dipped in oil as an
appetizer?

LOVE those salads! Can't wait for our cucumbers to ripen in our
garden ;D

That's what I was thinking . . . would make a wonderful cucumber
sandwich! ;D
One of her clients gave her fresh green onions (the big ones) so
she mixed that with the dill. It was really good. She did a nice
mix, so the dill or onion didn't overpower each other.
The only problem was that she gave the loaf to my mother, so I
only had one slice. :'( (grumble, grumble). I guess she loves
her grandma more than me! Sob! LOL!
Thanks for your responses!

My grandmother used dill quite a bit in her cooking. One of the
family favorites was Creamed Potatoes or Creamed Potatoes and
Peas.
It is basically a white sauce, onions and dill added to boiled
potatoes after they are cooked and drained.
My son-in-law extended the idea by adding dill to his Creamed
Leeks.

I have never made, but have seen a lot of recipes which put
cottage cheese into the dough when dill is involved.
I think they originate from a Pillsbury cook-off winner.

I did see a recipe which included pickles, and one which
included cheddar cheese, either of which might be good.
Try googling "sourdough dill bread" for ideas.

I think your daughters should stop baking beagles. Unless
they're for homemade hot dogs? :D
