Would you warn someone that they were easily identifiable?

I’m going to say upfront that this could be a heated topic
because of recent events elsewhere, and I understand if it gets
locked or removed or whatever. But it might be helpful to
someone.
Question is: if you realized it was extremely easy to find
another poster’s real name based on info they posted online,
would you warn them?
And would you want to be warned?

Seems to me that no matter how easy it is to find someone's real
name, it still requires actively looking for it and why would
you do that?

She didn't say she would, just that it would be easy for someone
to do. Not everyone has scruples and apparently a fair number of
people have a lot of time on their hands.

Yes and yes.
Or in another situation, perhaps the person has linked to their
blog and didn't realize it whathaveyou, and their real name is
on the blog. That would be another example.

That's a good example.

But, that's true in general. The question is how would she know
if she hadn't looked herself? She would have had to have looked
herself to know it, unless someone else told her, which would be
a whole other situation.
But, in Nikko-Chan's example, if the information comes by you as
a matter of course (you weren't googling the person's usernames)
then that's different.

It’s possible to come upon things by chance, particularly if
people share interests.
The trouble is, it’s hard to completely erase traces on the
internet.

Yes and yes. I realized that on another forum, when I posted
pictures through my google account, I may have accidentally done
that (inadvertently linked my real name to my screen name).
Can't go back and undo, but I haven't done anything to warrant
anyone wanting to search me out! I do wish that someone had
pointed it out to me earlier, and I am more aware of it now.

I really don’t care. I just want to keep away from scams. That's
the only reason I don’t let out my email except in PMs.
Most people know what they are doing, so why would I warn them?
I’m pretty much thinking that we should all keep the level of
privacy we want. We know the clues we are giving out.
