Count me as another who would never, ever, ever, EVER want to
eat food scraped off other people's personal plates, even if I
was at the meal where the food was served the first time. :-\

It would be iffy, but I might eat my husband's leftovers,
depending on the food. After all, I do kiss him. He would be
the only one. I understand that heating something up might kill
the germs, but it doesn't get rid of the ick factor. Cutting
the hens in half is a great idea, and they could be arranged to
look nice on the plate.

I'm going to give jpcher a huge pass on the possibility of using
the leftovers from any plate to make stock.
Homemade basics are becoming a lost art. And frankly when
something is cooked for as long as it takes to make stock, I
would be absolutely certain that any and all germs and/or ick
has been cooked out of it.
But, then again, I was first generation born off the farm, where
one wasted as little as possible simply because it was the smart
thing to do. It was also the practical thing to do in feeding
your family.

I agree with the member who said, cut the hens in half to serve.
Keep the other half in case they finish the first half and would
like to eat some more...there...at your dinner party.
On the other hand, there have been several times when I've had
friends over for dinner who I KNEW were poor. I encouraged them
to take leftovers because I knew they kind of needed them. But,
that was my decision.
